stock tire and rim weight
anyone know what it is for the stock alloy 16's? im trying to figure out if its worth while to switch to "lightweight" rims...

it is, just need good tires, but the stock rims are too skinny to fit good tires on.
im looking for good tires for my stock 15's for when i go to the track and try to sell my current rims.

Yea i will bring back this thread, my question is, How much do lightweight rims weigh????? are the stock 16s considered lightweight or is 25lbs too much??lol

"lightweight" rims are usually 16-19lbs. its really hard to find a website that lists the rim weight though. pretty much every site i have looked at has that category as N/A

i called the manufactuer of my rims and they said 36lbs. they dont look like they weigh that much though...

stock wheels on my car were 23lbs, my summer wheels now are 17 lbs. I like the difference.

The stock 15s on my Alero weighed barely anything! The 17s are quite a bit heavier.

Racing Harts... they are expensive, but britt had some 16" and they weighed 11 lbs each. Now thats light

It is generally accepted that a "lightweight" wheel weighs 1 pound for every inch it measures in diameter.
OEM 16" alloys range anywhere from 17-19lbs., which is pretty light. They are just about an inch too narrow for the size tire that the factory put on.
