I wanna hook my laptop to my OBD2 connector
Okay, here's is what I ma looking to do. I want to be able to hook up my laptop to my OBD2 connector so that I can monitor all my engines parameters, such as voltage, oil pressure, charge current, engine temp, etc. My '99 Alero has a tach, speedo, gas gauge, and engine temp gauge. I'd love to see all the other parameters as well. Also, if it is possible to read gas mileage this way too, that would be just the icing on the cake.
If anyone know how this can be done, and what it takes to do it, please let me know.

http://www.autotap.com/ might help.
I think the tuner software can do some of it too.
there's also this little device that you could use too...

If you search ELM 327 USB on ebay I am sure you will be happy with this device. You can find them for between 120-150 dollars. Thay work on more than just your ALero so it will be useful for another vehicle. Also there is a lot of software for free out there that will show you real time info like a dashboard on your laptop and it will help you maybe diagnose a bad oxygen sensor etc...I will say though that this will not give you direct answers to a problem on your car but it will give you some clues and a good head start....Took me a while to find a bad fuel pump relay lol....I never knew it had a relay. That will teach me to use pressure washers in my engine bay!

The engine can and will (its an alero) have problems. This could be used as a troubleshooting tool. Just because it dosent have "mods" doesnt mean this tool wont be useful.

First of all, please show me exactly where in my posting I said the car ws stock?? Second of all, it really bugs me when I ask a simple question and half the answers are people telling me I don't need it. If I didn't want it, I wouldn't of asked for it. Thankyou very much to those of you that actually answered my question.

Might as well tell you this now for future refference.... You are gonna get replies that don't really answer your question.... and you never did say your engine wasn't stock.

well, aside from what you listed, I dont believe the PowrTuner will read your oil pressure, nor will it calculate mileage. However, it will tell you some very important details, such as O2 sensor readings in mV, most major engine functions, and also what your slippage variables are in your torque converter/transmision, and much much more. If you're wanting nothing more than a simple guage panel in your laptop, then it's a bit pricier than you're probably looking for.
