engine noise and check engine light

I believe I read somewhere on this site that you can get oil in your coolant or worst coolant in your oil....I think that would be a big problem...just called the dealer and they want around $850 ($350 for parts) for the job...don't know if I should attempt this myself...what do you guys think...is it a big job.

I think Canadian tire will read the codes for you, for a price. But if you just say you want the codes and nothing else it shouldn't be too much.

yeah I've done that before...its around $30 for just the codes....$60 for a diagnostic.

Picked up a code reader for 45us shipped just for this reason, no Autozone, overpriced yet good mechs, Might even save the cost if I can get the right o2 sensor on the caddy fixxed in one shot.

Just to update....the problem was the lower intake manifold gasket....got it fixed....$620. As for the check engine lignt....I think it may have been leaking a bit in the air intake....causing one of the cilynders to missfire..I never got it checked but the light went off (even before I got it fixed) and never came back on.
