Help!

I noticed the other day that the sidewalls of my tires are BROWN!! (even after I washed my car!). When I first got my tires, I used some type of Eagle 1 tire shine stuff in a can.

Anyway, my questions are:
1) How do I get the brown crap off the sidewalls?
2) Was it possible that the tire shine stuff caused this problem?
3) Which product is the best to use on tires to make them shine?

Get Tire wet and use a thin mist on there and wpread it around with a paper towel or sumthin, itll keep em a lil more black and shiney

I would recommend cleaning the tires with some kind of a degreaser before shining them. Get something like simple green or coastal power clean, they both work well.

Thanks Silent and J-work! I will clean my tires with Simple Green (that's some good stuff) and then use some Tire Wet.

just make sure you don't accidentally get any on your brakes :o

honestly i don't think that you can totally get that brown crap off... like silent said... get a good "tire wet" product... that will help in hiding the brown crap...

you need acid...I work at a car wash and our white wall cleaner is mainly 80% acid. My suggestion..get some Simoniz Tire Cleaner, make sure its acidic though.

...Or go to a car wash, and they can spray em up for you...they'll come out nice and black.

And finally, get some tire spray..best choice is a foam tire spray, as the clear tire sprays have a poly in them that suffocates the tire, and causes cracking. Only thing clear tirewet is good for is spraying in your wheel wells.

The brown is not "on there," it's "in there." The tire is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. The brown is a slight reaction of a chemical in the tire compound which limits the effects of UV rays on the rubber. I agree with the others, though... just get a decent tire spray, and they will look good as new. But it will never completely "come off."

I am thinking those brown spots, are either like 3.4 alero said, Uv rays; causing the tire to get brown spots. Could also be other things like the type of wheel cleaner you were using, a cheap pair of tires, and if the brown is embedded in the tire, cleaning it might not cut it. You can try, but make sure you put some elbow grease in there. Like the others said, clean it well before adding the tire shine.

Bleach white would work good for cleaning the tires!!! I third that!

They will also turn brown if you scrub up aginst a curb.....

I didn't scrub them on the curbs or anything. They are Goodyear Eagle F1s. Haven't gotten around to messin' with them yet, but after this week (I have final exams), I will get around to them. Been so busy lately with school and restoring my old tractor, that I haven't had much time to do anything else!

i use a brand that i think is called black magic. they also make tire tint so can make your tires shine red , blue ,or green.i have never tried the tint but the tire wet stuff works awsome! just spray on the foam and walk away. give it ten mins to dry and your good to go. you don't even have to wash your tires first. they just say the dirtier they are , the more you put on. for 6 bucks a can it's worth a try :thumbsup:
