That carbon fiber look was just cooincidence. It's just fiberglass over the original piece. I painted it a 1/2 gloss black after it was finished though. That's basically the look most of the pieces inside the car are going to have.
although, this trip is quite a bit of fun this far... just can't seem to get away from the forum.

The roads from Vancouver to Lethbridge ought to be something else, I'm sure. However, we begin the long haul back tonight, and hopefully I'm in Lethbridge by about, oohhhh... 8AM... so what does that mean?
It means that tomorrow I'll be cleaning out the rest of the existing crap from the floor. Insulating it from sound. Throwing down the initial carpet. Monday, by Monday night, I hope to have the new floor shape figured out, and pieces cut. Then, come Tuesday, install the new carpet, which will allow me to then throw in the floor console, shifter, the whole nine yards of what I was working on.
Although the subframe is finished, which I'm quite happy about, I'll have to do the remainder of the panels when I'm in Shilo, so weekend projects. BUT, all in all, with all the minor details, should be carpeted and with a finished floor on or around Tuesday night.
One of those small detailes I was thinking about, was having a 3-prong plug installed somewhere around the floor area, to finally avoid all the converters and adaptors that have to deal with a cigarette lighter... basically the AC adaptor for my laptop...
Anyway, hopefully there's no hickups on the drive back... and I can get something accomplished. I'll be sure to throw on some updates ASAP... picture updates that is.

Just taking a break for dinner...
The LED's on the climat control have been changed to blue. Done. That's now mounted back in, and the consoles put back overtop of it.
The back panel's sanded, and the paint is trying.
I had to remove the sub-assembly... effass... because as I was measuring up the 6x9's, of course, they don't fit. So, tomorrow I'll dremmel in the new size needed. In order to do this, cutting from underneath, I had to remove the two spring-bars from the trunk - holy hell that thing is heavy. None the less... tomorrow morning I'll pick up the 6x9's where I left off.
Lets see... what else.. what else.. OH! Right, how could I forget... the cut, shaped kick panels I sent for sandblasting were waiting for me when I got back from the trip... one problem... not the same panels. They're the same, rough cut panels I started with in the first place... so, this really pissed me off... back to square one.
The floor is also Dyna-matted under where the drivers seat is. Progress is being made... but the 6x9's are the typicall one step forward, two steps back. Hopefully after dinner and a few drinks, I can manage to get more done. Pics will be up with another update, as always, after I'm done tonight.

Okay, picture updates... most of these pics will just reiterate what I've been talking about before...
The first picture is of the kick-panels I was waiting for, for... oh, over a week and a half. Like I said, I had sent these in matching the cut - paper outlines - and shape needed. All that needed to be done was to get clearcoat overtop of these, and drill in the rivet holes... this is what I got back. A rough cut, unshaped.
I'm thinking they screwed them up some how, not to mention mine were 22 guage, and measuring these, they're 20 guage. I wont know until I call them tomorrow... ought to be a good phone call.
The second picture, shows the new blue LED's in the climate control. Nothing too special. I'm just glad I got it finished. Crappy picture, but, shmee...
Third picture, The white outline is a rough guide as to what I need to cut to get those new 6x9's to fit. I'll be doing that with a dremmel tomorrow.
Forth picture - the Parcel Deck. The covers are only placed overtop to give the look, as well as the parcel deck will be getting a dull-clear coat. Last thing I need is for this piece to reflect sunlight or headlights into the rear view mirror.
Final picture is a quick shot of the subframe that the boards will be mounted to. It's hard to picture the shape inside the car, but I'll throw that picture up once I've remounted it.
Anyway, that's it for tonight. More work tomorrow.
