Exhaust swap for my alero???
My friends 94 grand prix v6 3.1 blew up a while ago and they are parting the car out. He replaced the existing dual exhaust set up with a new one and it was on the car for a year. Now he is scraping the car and the exhaust with it. The system cost him $550 and I could probably have it for 50-75 bucks. It looks every similar to my aleros and with some modification would it work? Just thought i would ask someone on here before I waste my money. I don't care about sound or performance I just want to complete my car inexpensivly and im gettin slp oval tips.

I can figure this out myself, and will take it to an exhaust shop and have them deal with it. The title explains itself but apparently nobody seems to understand that. I want dual exhaust and here I can spend 50 bucks for a really decent exhaust system rather than dropping like $400(plain grand am gt)-$600(custom magniflow) for a dual exhuast system at cole muffler. Just wondering if there were any repercutions that I would need to know about doing this since i really don't know anything about exhausts.

Yes you can customize the exhaust to fit your alero. I am not sure that is something I would do but for 50 bux its not a bad idea. You might figure out how much it will cost to customize it and apply it to your car before you go thru with it.
Calm down, boss. We like to see a fun side to things here too.
Is everyone in a bad mood today?
oh and do you have the 3.4?

I'm not sure how well that 1st generation W-Body exhaust will fit your car. It all depends on how big the mufflers are and if they will fit in the space on the Alero. As for the piping, that will have to be changed because the exhaust on a W-Body goes over the passenger side and the Alero has it going over the drivers side.

I have the 3.4 and I looked under my alero today and now im starting to doubt that it will fit. The exhaust I know for sure will need some modding but I will try to get a pic tomorrow of the exhaust because its off the grand prix. Right now im just wondering if the mufflers will fit like Cliff8928 said.

damn...you beat me to it...lol
well you have a few options....buy a flowmaster "crossflow/camaro style" out of summit, or your local fleet farm...there is also a generic version of flowmaster called FORCE which are only 29.88, but im not positive they are crossflow style....another option is a cheap Y section for 20 bucks, and have an exhaust shop bend a couple of pipes for ya.....
final option...is of course buy one from a demodding member on here??
Im selling my muff, and tailpipes soon, but not sure when
hope this helps

the best bet for a 3.4 will be dual 40's from what i hear.
I have a glasspack with a turbo muffler.
Real deep but not raspy AT ALL.

Yeah my friend was talkin about going with glass packs instead of the mufflers but we'll see. He just has to take a look at it if I ever get it back on the road again. . . Hopefully a week or so.
