NE ASS Caravan '07
It seems there are a few more people then just Pimptress and myself who are going to be traveling through from Ny. (just noticed Zol is in Mass.)
I figure we should get a good estimate of who is going and/or joining the caravan... what routes are normally taken, which should be avoided (if someone knows from past experience)
..and who is venturing off on their own, taking their own path...
Last I knew, me and kim were planning on going through Canada, but plans changed and now we're going through Ohio, to join up with the other 'modders... as long as they can actually keep a schedule this year....

Yeah, I'm going through NY, unless I travel up Vermont and around NY in Canada to avoid Yankee fans.
Going down to Ohio then back up to Michigan seems like a waste of gas TBH. And adds hundreds of miles, won't it?

i will be taking the PA turn pike aka interstate 70 the whole way accross PA (starting just outside of maryland where it meets up with 270 north. then i will of course continue onto the ohio turnpike aka interstate 80. ken, you wont be on the road for too long before we can meet up if you so like.

From Streets and Trips 2006 on my laptop:
Going through Canada, from my house, is 333.7 Miles, which it estimates at 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Going through Ohio, its 449.8 Miles and 7 hours and 2 Minutes
Hmm.. thats a hard one. Do I really want to spend another hour and a half on the road... and a bunch more in gas....??

It's only 86 more miles and 1 hour and 16 minutes more for me if the NY caravan goes through Ohio(according to Google Maps, a 14 hour drive, LOL). And we don't have to get raped by Canada's taxes.

well for the people coming from NY....... youll take I90 all the way past cleveland to where it dumps into the Ohio Turnpike which is I80. when you get on the turnpike your at mile marker 142 approximately.
at mile marker 139 i believe is a rest stop........ thats where we will meet up with the NY convoy people........ its litterally just afew minutes after you get on the turnpike so its not hard to find at all.

(for those coming from more rural NY)
I990 to I290 (youngmann expressway) to I90... then clear sailing into Ohio.

This is why I'm not caravaning uot to the show.
It took me over 15 hours to drive out last year, it's only a 10 hour trip.
I don't mind the driving, I drove stright thru from Dinsey to Philly once with the Alero (16 hours exactly) but it's the stopping every 100 miles and the rest stop car shows.
Maybe if I didn't live 7 hours from Ohio, I wouldn't mind it, plus people crying that it took them 8 to 10 hours
