Yes I've done it before with a unpainted, self taper. Works all the time for small voltage stuff, but I wouldn't recommend doing that on bigger thing ie DVD player, radios, amps....etc.

my poppers took me about 2 hours total to install, but thats just the 2 front doors. all you do is take off the outside handle, remove the rods attached to the latch and then run a crimped cable from the solenoid to the latch.

When I installed remote door poppers for the k9 cop cars here they used like some twisted steel cable and a hook. What kind of cable are u using or what type of cable are u using? Just wondering!

its actually an LED for my alarm, you can tell when its armed because it will blink.
