Time to start modding
Yepp, finally got the car paid off and all other money issues in order and I decided it's time to start modding.
I just want to get some opinions. I have a pretty much stock car and want to do some mods to make it somewhat faster. I want to spend somewhere between 400-800 dollars in the next month or so, and then somewhat more depending on what comes up.
What do you guys suggest?

Used supercharger kit off j-body.org
Or source parts for a turbo kit.

think i can do it for that cheap?
I was actually planning on turboing it this summer, but I decided I'd wait because I assumed it would cost around 1500 for everything

I just got an alero as well and have the same question. I was thinking about just going with a new intake and exhaust for now. (I might put a s/c on it later this year or next year when I have more constant funding.) What would anyone suggest for quality parts?

well since we're on the topic, anybody know a ballpark for a turbo setup that includes everything turbo, manifold, all piping, intercooler, tune etc
I'd have to do everything myself and I'd be on stock internals so It would have to be fairly low boost, definitely 8psi or less

$2,000 for turbo system, just turbo, manifolds, BOV, Wastegate, Intercooler
your also gonna need a tuner, another 400 bucks, and some other odds and ends. and after all that, you still may blow the tranny, or another engine component, which will be more coin...

AJules has the LD9, Bad99Olds has the 3400. LD9 stuff is cheaper than that. Check j-body for all the information you need and classifieds for things for sale.

Milzy is almost finished with a turbo setup! $3500 includes everything! T3/T4 Precision turbo, Precision intercooler, turbo headers, downpipe, wastegate, BOV, piping, couplers, lines, SS v clamps, and tuned PCM is all included in the package for the V6.

okay question, I want to be around 220whp with a turbo setup, assuming that's low enough to keep the transmission and not have a whole lot of stuff breaking
how do I get there?

A T3 Super 60 or something similar is what you'll want. You can push as little as 8 psi and easily make 220whp, it'll spool very fast, and last just about forever as long as you keep up on regular maintenance.

okay, 8psi seems to be the number I'm looking for
what about tuning though? hptuners?
and how difficult would it be for someone who's never used one before?

very, you need to have a real tuner do it, and a dyno
