sluggish response

well, I went on a 300 mile road trip today with 3 of my closest friends and we had a blast. I didn't say anything to them but i really was noticing that my car was running poorly. Does anybody else have a problem with their car getting really sluggish after its been driven for over 30 minutes? My car does this everytime....it never overheats (my temp gauge never goes over the 1/2 mark) or anything and no lights come on, but there is a significant loss of acceleration and response to the gas pedal. It seems reluctant to shift to a lower gear when passing and has a rough feeling when applying more pressure to the gas pedal.

its really annoying because I've never experienced this with any other vehicle. Could something else be overheating which is causing this? i don't hear any weird noises or smells.

Funny you mentioned the temp gauge not going past the half mark, cause mine is at the 3/4 mark and some times a little above, and I have been starting to worry about that. Knock on wood I haven't had any major problems yet other then the Brake caliper pins seizing, and needing tie rod ends ,but I am concerned about this temp thing.

yeah, I have a feeling that my thermostat is stuck open because my car used to heat up to a little over the half mark and then one day it just wouldn't. For yours, you may need a new thermostat because it could be stuck closed.

Sluggish response and roughness when you give it more throttle sounds like it's running a little lean. Try a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. If that doesn't help at all, get the fuel filter changed. I don't think it would be the pump, but if neither of those help, the pump may just be starting to go bad.
