Yes Blackjack can give you more detail.
You would def need different axles because the 4t65's tranny's axles are thicker than the 4t45's. The files will need to be uploaded into your PCM. Tranny mounts would need to be made, and something with the hubs, becuase the 4t45's are smaller.

Haven't gotten any questions from this one, so I guess it wasn't that important to him

Iraq eh? Looks like we're trading locations. I'm outbound in a few months.
Here's the list of stuff you'll need:
- PCM reprogrammed (special order) with the 4t65 transmission data. If you don't, you won't have the correct information it needs like gear ratios, MPH information, etc, and your shifting/MPH reading will be all out of whack.
- 4t65 transmission (duh) WITH the driver's side primary mount. You'll need the base mounting plate that sits on the frame of the donor car (van) also. I used the one from a 2000+ Monte Carlo w/3800
- Dog-bone mounts from radiator head panel to engine (this is your torque bracing). I use the ones from the minivan (chevy venture, etc.) because the engine bay is smaller and the right length. The dogbone assemblies from GM cars are not useable because those have longer engine bays than the N-body.
- Axles custom made with 4t65 inners and 4t45 outers, or use shortened 4t65 outers if you want to change to gran-prix hubs. The outer splines will not match up.
- flex plate from whatever engine your torque converter/trans came from. 3800 and 3400 center bolt patterns are the same on the flex plate, however the outer bolt pattern on the torque converters are not.
- custom made wiring harness to change the signals to the transmission.
- weld the lower base-plate mount support to your lower frame on the driver's side.
Bingo, you're in business.

actually, the 4t60 is a FWD, used in mid-late 90's monte carlo's and luminas, etc.
The article lists a more comprehensive inclusion of what year/models it came in....
4T60-E

The T in GM transmissions stands for transverse mounted, meaning FWD. If it were 4L60E, the L meaning longitudinally mounted, it would be a RWD transmission.

While we're playing the semantics game..... yes the T stands for transverse, but trust me, Fiero's aren't FWD.
so, what are we now calling the 4t65 variant for the AWD's such as in the Pontiac Aztek? (real question).

So are you guys dropping the 4t65 conversion off the burner, or just going with what will seem to be more popular for now?
