New Alero Owner from Calif.
Hey all,
I got this site from an Alero owner and member this week. I was doing some research at time of purchase and thought I would see what he thought as an owner. I came across him through a time run on the 1/4 mile I believe it was. I just wanted to post up and introduce myself and my new ride to everyone.
I purchased a 2001 Alero GLS 3400 with all the bells and whistles and about 72,000 miles and one owner. I paid just over $6,000 for her before the "stealership" hit me with tax, lic. smog, financing, and of course I had to have a warranty after reading up on these vehicles. She has a few dings and rubs but over all exterior is in very good shape for the age of the vehicle. The interior is tits :<). Not a single spot, tear, leather nick nothing. The engine compartment appears spotless, however I got it from a Hyundai dealer so....
I have only had her for 3 days so I can't say too much about the car atm. She seems very nice. The ride is smooth, the power is good, the tunes are loud, the comfort is exceptional.
I was actually a little concerned as she runs above halfway a little in mild traffic and 80+ weather. I did a search here and read thru them. I will take another trip tomorrow of about 30 or so miles with a mix of driving in mid range weather and see if it's just the normal operating range.
My name is christian. I' am 37, Male and I live in Sacramento,California. I do shipping and receiving for a living. I don't socialize alot as I mostly concentrate on work so as to pay the bills. I dig Nascar (Dale JR. fan), Football (packers fan), I like the Blue Jays but don't watch a whole lot of Baseball on T.V. I like cats and just became the proud owner of a litter of 5 kittens :<) to add to my two adult females. The mother was a stray I took in as she had previously had a littler outside and I didn't want a zillion more cats running around my area so I took her in. Unfortunate she was already prego but she'll be fixed soon now that she has given birth.
I' am looking forward to chatting with you all and enjoying the new ride.
Negolien---Tag I have used for years and years of online gaming.

What's wrong with a Hyundai dealer?
I like the thought that someone traded in an Alero for a Hyundai, though.
Welcome!
Oh, as I recall mine always ran a little on the warm side. As long as you don't get into the "red zone" you're fine.

Welcome to the forum, negolien.
As far as I know, most Alero temps run just above the half way mark.
Abuse the SEARCH button!

same here...the gauges aren't that accurate. wait until summer when you have your a/c on and then it'll go above the half mark when you are in traffic.

Soup
LOL :<).. Well did my traffic test today. Full A/C 28 miles in heavy traffic no issues. The temp pointer sits with the bottom of the bar touching the top of the normal temp line. It seems that's the normal temp range. I will be adding the 180 thermostat as well as flushing it and having a pressure check done before summer hits hard. I must add though Brrrrrrrrr. That freaking A/C is cold jack LOL. Almost put my jacket on.
As for Hyundai I really like their vehicles. They had one 2 door sports car that's pretty tight. Price was ummm LOL about $23,000 came stock with a 600 watt Infinity Audio system too O.o... I wasn't dogging em just figured they washed out the Engine compartment or something I'm sure they cleaned it up alot before sale.
Thanks for all the welcomes I' am sure I'll enjoy picking all your brains and BSing with ya.
