changing 6x9s issue
Hi,im new and i have a few questions regarding replacing the 6x9s in the rear deck. i've searched other threads and havent found an answer.
recently, i took out my blown 6x9s and disconnected them from the monsoon amp. I intended to install the Infinity Kappas 2-way speakers, but they wouldnt fit, without some cutting/modification of the rear deck.
Does anyone know of some aftermarket speakers that do not require cutting of the rear deck to install? any suggestions from previous experiences with changing the rear 6x9s?
btw. I have a 2001 GLS with the factory upgraded audio system, stock head unit is in place and monsoon amp is in the trunk.

if you use the stock spacers, from the factory 6x9s the new speakers should fit without a problem, and then obv its just a matter of wiring them back up

I had to bend the edges down a bit to fit my Infinity 693.7i speakers in there.

I had hell getting my pioneer 6x9's in the rear.. that wierd looking plastic frame lookin thing didnt wanna accept the new speakers.. so I pretty much used brute force.. smashed em in place and stuck it back in the 6x9 hole.. so far so good!

I just replaced my busted factory 6x9's with 180 watt or so Sony Xplodes. I wired everything up and they sound alright but no really big thump. Do I buy new speakers or is the Monsoon Amp not hooked up or what?

If you use an Aftermarket deck, You're going to want to replace the wiring.

My 01 has the orginal deck still in it. I just replaced the speakers thats it and the wierd thing is that Someone switched the wiring to where the right wiring is on the left and so fourth. Is that common?

i am having the same problem. whoever did the previous install of kickers managed to get them in properly. when my new infinitys wouldn't fit, i compared them to the kickers and they both wouldn't fit - were too big. so how the heck did the kickers get in there properly?
see my other post.
thnx! >:O
