ASS 09 question

Not really related to ASS 09 per say.

With the baby and all his stuff we are either going to have to drive 2 cars which would suck total ass. (My wife made a 50 mintue drive take 2 hours due to her following practices) Tow the Alero which is too expensive, or tow a small trailer.

I know the Alero can tow 1000 lbs. U-haul has a "Sport trailer" which weighs 535 lbs and a max load of 965 lbs.

The highway thru PA is all mountains after that it's pretty much flat and smooth sailing. The SES light never comes on so I know it's not that high up.

Anyway here is the trailer's web page:

http://www.uhaul.com/guide/index.asp...=trailer-sport

The car will have over 100,000 miles on it by next year, tranny will have about 35,000 (rebuilt at 65,000 or so) I'm going to talk to my mech about this too. I probably will be putting in the baby's stroller, the folding chairs, the Pack N Play, our fold up tent, and the soda donation. Maybe a few other small things too. Plus it's only $20 (probably a day but that's still cheap IMO)

If I did it' I'd probably have to use "3" instead of "D" to avoid going into Overdrive

It's like driving a few 300lb friends around, it's fine.

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
Actually you will have a BIG problem.

U Haul just wont let you rent them Dolly's unless they know what your towing and with what vehicle. If the ratings are not there, they will NOT rent it to you.

My friend wanted to tow a 94 regal from Toledo to Cleveland and they would not rent him the dolly... he had a V6 Jimmy even with a class 2 hitch.

I will be going next year so I can prob help you out carring stuff for you.

I towed a stand up jet ski (400 lbs ) on a 4x8 utility trailer with my honda civic with out a problem I don't see how the alero would have a problem. if you have a hitch you could use my trailer (not enclosed tho ) if you want to.

U-haul will be the problem, not the Alero. You will have to watch your speed (mostly so you can stop safely, not go) and put it in 3 when you go up a hill, but otherwise you'll be perfectly fine. Obviously keep your eye on the temp, etc, watch your following distance, and remember to turn wide.
But your best bet would be some creative packing. I used to move most of my wordly belongings in that car without a problem. Obviously you'll have half the backseat occupied, but you can still get a lot in half the back and the trunk. Get a folding umbrella-style stroller for kiddo and buy a styrofoam cooler and ice when you get there and toss it before you leave.

We have one of those strollers, the problem is the baby will be 7 months at that point, too small for the stroller
