need help choosing an amp!

You have dual 4 Ohm subs...

Run them parallel and present a 1 Ohm load. Dont be an idiot and go higher...

This allows you to get a good amp at a cheap price and power them properly.

Your choices wired into 1 channel are 1 ohm or 4 ohm and to get an amp to push 4-600 WRMS X 1 @ 4 ohms is going to cost some serious cash.

400 is small also. 500 wrms min or more... they will handle upwards of 700 WRMS...

First of all you need to decide what is your intention for these subs. ie to show off, audio competitions or just every day comfortable listening levels with some decent punchy bass.

If you don't plan on craking it to the max for everyday driving, one good amp with 400 WRMS will be plenty of power to feed those two subs. I'm running two 600WRMS amps to power my two 1000WRMS subs and that is still enough juice to blow my brains out. The alt. is going to give out before the amps will.

If you are going with high wattage amps, you need to consider the thickness of the power and ground wires as well. If you plan on istalling it yourself do more research first.

I love JL Amps, I got a 1000/1 but then again I am also pushin 3 JL 12-w6 version ones with dual 6 ohm coils

1000 watts baby, and i love it, but that amp would be too much for you, and ur w-3s and its also 999 new, I got mine as an open box from tweeter for 729, but it had a faulty ground and they replaced with a brand new one woo hoo, this is in my lexus, my alero as an alpine v-12 expert, 1000 watts pushin the same 3 12 w-6 version 1's. thats a damn good amp too.

may be able to find a used one for 400 and turn the gain down halfway.

okay so i need a mono amp stable at 1ohm with a min of 500wrms and then just wire the subs parallel which would give me a 1 ohm load and then it should work fine? is that about right or am i still way off lol

i wouldnt go down to 1 ohm, very risky and I dont think the w-3 could handle it, 4 ohms should be fine maybe 2

Please read up before giving improper advice.

The sub is a dual 4 Ohm sub, which means it can be wired for 2 or 8 ohms. Wiring between both subs then will give you 1 or 4 ohms.

"The subs cant handle it"? You have got to be kidding me... That is what the subs are made for. Theres no way you can wire those 2 subs to get a 2 Ohm load.

Options:

1 X 1 Ohm
1 X 4 Ohm
2 X 2 Ohm
2 X 8 Ohm
4 X 4 Ohm

There are no other options.

OP. Yes 500-600ish WRMS @ 1 Ohm is what to look for.

e-Bay a nice used rockford there great with JL. i put a newer rockford fosgate P300.1 on an older JL 12W6 with the bass knob thats the best used $300 setup (for the brand used) that i have ever put together. it went into a 2000 tauras and it Friggin rattled some panels in that i was shocked for just a 12 and i was always skeptical about how great JL's were.

they have an amazingly crisp and clear bass.

but then again i watched a W7 pop at a DB comp the other day, the only thing to crapp out, and i aslo saw yesterday 3 older 10w3's that were being rapped by an infinity amp and the kids like oh yeah there like this all the time , and ther 8 years old. idk what it is mabe there a difference between the old and new in endurance.

And If I am not mistakin the 1 ohm stable amps can be a little pricey, but that was years ago I a not sure if prices for amps have gone down.
