Just out of curiousity
Can you make the 2.0 L ecotec supercharger work with the Alero's 2.2 L Ecotec. This is just out of curiousity, cus I would one day, in the near future, like to SC my car, but dont have the cash yet.

^Ive already seen a couple of these on E Bay

Ive heard that too, I dont know if you could make it work with the alero's PCM though.

The pcm I think you need to get a re-flash, but that’s with the 2.4 I think they are the same though, but like i said befor im not sure.

Yup, youd probably have to reflash it too. Also, Im thinking, if you need to compensate for the extra .2 liter the 2.2l Alero has, compared to the 2.0l you'd probably have to switch pulleys. Just a theory though, I dont really know much about this stuff.

No GM reflash for the ecotec on Alero. Even if you buy just the SC you would be missing whole lots of parts that are kinda hard to get. Take a look at the picture in this site as reference http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...-P1377C41.aspx. The kit would fit our car, but has to be custom tune.

Anyways, theres no Dealer tune for the 2.2 ecotec for any SC, so whatever SC kit you put in there, you need to custom tune it.

That is unless it's a cavalier or sunfire.

What’s the difference? The sunfire and cavi have the same 2.2L motor. Just wondering because I don’t know much on this subject.

It all has to do with emissions certification and other legal stuff.

So the factory "could" tune it but will not do to legal reasons?

They probably don't want to invest in EPA certifications for the supercharger due to perceived minimal sales.

Maybe something in the pcm. I say this because when looking at the supercharger kit, it said they could only reflash the cavalier or sunfire. The reflash, they said, wont work on other cars with the 2.2L. I thought it was the same thing too though.

So, then you would either tune the stock computer or get one from the sunfire or cavi, then it would depend on the cost?

Well, you can't just plop in a J-Body computer and expect it to work right.. There are some minor differences.
The Alero has inputs and outputs for a few things the J-Body doesn't have...
1) Clutch Pedal Position signal (manual trans)
2) Ignition 0 Voltage Input
3) High Speed Cooling fan control
The J-Body also has an additional Class 2 Data line going from the PCM to the EBCM for whatever reason. The Alero distributes Class 2 data in the left IP Fuse block. That probably wouldn't make much difference.
