Mine does that randomly. You can either deal with it by jiggling the shifter until it goes into park or you can have your key cylinder replaced. Where at in MN are you located?

try this... the plastic bezel that sits under your shifter. (the whole piece that the PRND321 piece sits in) where that meets the cubby hole infront of it. try pulling that up like 1/8".
I found that, the little metal thread piece that connects to your shifter(and attaches infront of it) sits just below that bezel. For some reason, when thats pushed down really far, it doesn't allow the car to recognize that the car itself is in park... thus... won't release the key.

Could also be that you are not putting the gear shifter all the way into park (happens to me), or the park lock itself.

^ we have a winner. it's not fully engaged in the park gear. if you haven't modified your shifter at all, I don't know what you did to break it. lol

It's not what he did to break it, some do that on their own, the issue is that the car itself will not go all the way into park in order to release the keys. If you jiggle it in you can get it to work.

Mide does it randomly also. My Malibu also had problems with it. I haven't had the time to, but I plan to take off the console and tinker with the inards to see what might be causing it. I'll be all the way in park, but the key won't come out, as described above. I've noticed that if you push on the brake and shift to reverse, then park again, it seems to release it faster than just wiggling the key for 10 minutes.
