Supercharger question
Stopped at the junkyard today and I saw a Buick Park Ave with the complete 3800 s/c motor, they also had 2 GA's with complete 2.4 Twin Cam motors both 5 speed, one had 87K miles, and an Aroura with another complete motor
Anyway, I was going to pull off the s/c and try to fab it up on the Alero, but I was unsure if it would fit or not, the car was a 97 so I'm pretty sure it's a M90 s/c but when I asked how much the s/c was if I were to pull it I was told $1K.
This place is expensive and they are ahoes there anyway, but the good junkyard has an Alero they have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks for the title to be thiers.
Anyway, what s/c is better for the 3400? The M62 or the M90?

pull the 5 speed trans for me
and yeah that M90 is WAY, WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY overpriced. what's better? the bigger the better. lots of fabrication to get it to work on the 3400 though... turbo setup's better

no, screw N/A. Not Acceptible. N/A is expensive and slow. Boost is cheaper and quick. The sound, the fuel economy, the power. It's great. You'd probably change your mind if my cat wasn't clogged at ASS lol.

I'm sure that'll "wow" everyone, an N/A Alero running mid 14s.
What you need are 11-12s. 14s are nothing impressive anymore... You've built it up N/A, now add the final touch, the boost to further all that existing power.

That would be an intake nightmare... better have an engineer friend with good CAD skills.
plus you can get just S/C off fleabay for under $200.

Not really, look at how the kit for the 3400 is... all you need is a plenum outlet to bolt the supercharger to and then run charge piping from it to the maf/throttle body. You'd have to make a loooong rod to reach the accessory belt though, just like how the limited run 3400 M62 kit was, and RSM's kit is.

wow, I guess I better get off my ass and start making a "no-hood" GMC 671 S/C kit.
hmmm....since the base plate is made to fit specific applications using the same S/C body........I wonder.

yeah, I guess you're right.....that would look stupid running 10's in the 1/4 mile. That would look REALLY stupid.
I'm not exactly the guy to worry about how shit looks. If I have to balance looks and (serious) performance, the Alero is not the way to go. My hood is currently canted at the rear about 3" up so I can fit my intake. I'm not happy with the way it looks completely, but I'm happy with the way it eats corvettes, S/C mustangs, and SRT(insert number here) that are contemplating how stupid it looks.

visually it would, a supercharger sideways poking out the hood just wouldn't look right, turn your 3400 sideways and RWD swap it!

when speaking of a custom supercharger setups, just stay away from hEatons in general, but yes probably more cost effective to go turbo.....i know i will be running 14s NA, hopefully 13s, before i actually throw the boost to it.....

not with the way it's being designed...
the supercharger would have to be before the throttle body
