just an idea...
hello all!
well.. i'm sure most of you have had this problem... and most of you have thought of this.
My subs are facing me in my trunk... they seem to hit harder/clearer that way... but i have noticed something... the 6x9"s on the rear deck are greatly affected by the amount of air pushed by the subs... the move up and down when they're turned off. lol. So now my 6x9"s are destroyed (they were only song 4-ways).
So here is what i was thinking. Installing 6.5" speakers into the side panels in the backseat... where you feet kinda go... i think you get my idea.
or should i just make some sort of box for the rear speakers to protect them from the bass?
Thanks!

Heres a better idea. Take the 6x9s out and dont use any rear speakers.

well first off there's a reason why subs normally face the trunk it is because the sound is meant to bounce off something before it comes to you for better sound though in the alero sometimes it sounds like shit when it hits the trunk and thats where you'll need lots of sound deadening to fix that problem but first are your subs at an angle or facing toward the 6x9 to be pushing air into them?

When the subs pressurize the car it doesnt really matter which direction they are aiming. With the windows up- when the subs extend out it creates pressure. That pressure goes everywhere and compresses the air inside the entire trunk (seats up). So aim wont affect this.

hmm i've had friends who do turn there subs around to face them and it sounds like shit though i've never tried it in my car but ive never heard of someone having problem with there 6x9s but you'd have to take your door panel off to see if theres room to put a speaker there cause i know you could run wires there so if theres room you'll have to cut a hole or take it to an audio shop and have them do it for you

So, While this is all in audio,
What is the best aiming for Ported Box?
Mine is Aimed towards my Trunk, but My trunk rattles like a Mofo.
To solve your probelm on the 6x9 Damage, You could try putting a Port in the Rear deck?
Cut a cirle and put a Plastic Collar on it, it'd look fine.
Plus, it would stop the air in the trunk from building and pushing on the cones of the 6x9's.
ryan, Feel free to tell me to STFU.

its still mpg...
in canada we us uk gallons
except uk gallons and us gallons are different sizes
1 us gallon = 0.83267384 uk gallons
sorry about the side detour there...
Anyways... I though it would also look cool to put speakers in the side panels(put some leds in and such)... but was wondering how it would sound? would you notice a difference?

ryan really should chime in on this. but i think the relocation you are describing would cause some sound issues.

For any trunk, it depends on the size and dimensions of the box. If you box is extremely big, it is better to face into the cabin because the box simi-seals the area between the trunk and cabin.

^^ because thats what america is all about. f*ck everyone else.
but on a serious note. do what makes u happy. not what makes everyone else happy. people complain about "i don't like how loud ur car is. it hurts my ears". which is followed by a swift "good thing its not your car"
