"Super White Xeon" Replacement Bulbs

After selling some of the actual HID kits Ive wanted to upgrade my lighting. Being laid off Im broke, so I decided the give these replacement type bulbs a shot. This isnt my first run in with these types of bulbs. About 10 years ago I used similar bulbs in my 95 Monte Carlo with good luck.

Being a dealer of things I was able to buy my own replacement bulbs direct from my distributor.

The brand is "Farenheit". They are labeled as "Super White Xeon". I did just the low beams, 9006 bulbs.

The bulbs have the paint on the end much like the OEM replacements. They come in the standard retail pack and can be stocked like anything bought at Wal mart or Autozone.



The OEM bulbs are rated at 51 watts, the replacements are 80 watts. So it is an increase!

In the end... They are a little brighter- its not a HUGE difference. The real difference comes from the very slight blue tint. It makes things clearer than the yellowed stock OEM bulb.

80 watts is a little much for the factory 55 watt rated harness. Isn't that what causes wires melting?

Well...

I did run similar bulbs in my Monte Carlo for about 1 1/2 years until someone killed my car. Never had an issue except a bright bulb burned out... I think thats because I touched the bulb. Now i know better and read directions... lol

At 14.4 Volts...

Stock is 3.5 Amps, the new bulbs are 5.6 Amps.

Looks awesome. Could you do one with HIDs as well (stock/hids, these/hids)? I have Silverstar Ultras all around, but I think the blue tint may be a little more intense on those.

i've heard horror stories about those high wattage ones melting harnesses/headlamp plastic.

they actually look a lil brighter so thats good. i tried something like this before but they were only 60w and the were good in town, but on the highway at night couldn't see a thing.

if you do have problems with the harness, you could always just buy aftermarket better ones for still cheaper than hid

Yeah those are going to melt the hardness.

I had practically the same bulbs as my low beams for a good year before i got my hids that i have now. Honestly not bad bulbs. You CAN see better with them, and people CAN see you better, but there still not hid's. And even after a year i never had problems with my harness. And mine too were 80 watts.

I never had any problems either UNTIL one of them blew out. both my harnesses then got completely fried. It wasn't too bad to replace them, as it just melted the plastic part that goes into the bulb and about 2 inches of wire, but prolly would have got worse if i didn't get to it that quick. I would definately advise against using those...

the blue seems brighter, I would stick with them, instead of the factory lighting... One thing to watch out for and that I had years ago was on of the plugs melted slightly and I had to re-wire one of the headlights..

it would be cool if silverstar put a little Blue tint to there bulbs it would probably brighten them up a bit. i have silverstars High&low, and similar blue ones (1394??) as my signals.

I bought these basically as a test.

I would of done the same thing with the HID kits but Im broke.

For instance these bulbs if I do sell them, they will be $12 a pair + ship. So as you can see its another alternative for those who cant afford $110 HIDs.

I will be getting my HIDs when I can get some more sold. Actually I got a special on them right now!

Any blue tint on halogen bulbs will reduce light output. It is for appearance only.

If you're worried about melting harnesses just wire them up on a relay...
