Ian 2000GL LA1 Re-build log.

After having the box built in the back seat i decided to tear it out. I wanted to move my audio back to the trunk and downsize on power i wanted to loose my 3 Kinetik 1800's Pioneer 15" TS-W8102SPL, 8 cube box, and the soundstream XXX10K, i striped out the audio and replaced my back seats. after that i ran an 8" MTX thunder 5500 and a pioneer 300W amp. This weekend i got back an old setup i sold to a girl. it's a 15" Cerwin Vega V-Max Dual4 wire to 2 ohms. the amp is a 2003 series rockford fosgate 500bd. for my front stage anp i left in my rockford fosgate 160aII and replace the rear stage alpine amp for a 500a2 i was given from a dealer, i had to take it apart and repair the remote turn on due to the ripped out connection. then i added 5 layers of dynomat to the trunk lid insert that rattles so badly. This setup is temporary but i figured i would post some pictures up to show my project. here is a link below of my prior build log from www.caraudio.com.

build log:http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showth...=390087&page=3

I see a few things that could be changed in your new build. The alero's trunk hates sub up.

really its the only way to make a 15" sub fit in this car. ill have to re-measure but with proper airspace in a ported enclosure i doubt i could squeeze a 15 in upright. my old 15 couldnt fit the trunk at all it was a true 15.75" and almost16" deep. im probably going to put an 18" in the trunk and slide it through from the cabin. I need that much sub for the class i want to play is. i compete. www.teamnortheastspl.com. i might just just make a beuty panel out of fiberglass to add some more weight to the trunk lid. it doesnt bother me to have some vibration from the trunk.

The boxes that I made for my 12"s could not fit through the trunk, I had to go through the cabin. 15 1/2" x 15 1/2 x 18". As for an 18" I am thinking you're going to have to build the box inside of trunk if thats where its going.

What are you doing with the pioneer 15" now?

Its pretty easy to fit a 15 in our trunks lol. An 18 is another animal.

And the sub isn't just going to make your trunk rattle, it also makes the sub load against it, which is bad for our cars SPL wise.

im not too worried about the SPL side of things now. as for my 15" i had 2 at one time i never put the second in, there for sale if anyone wants then the kid that bought them off me has both for sale now. he'd probly let them go for 500 or so each, but dont quote me on that.

18" would be easy you take your front seats out and assemble it in the cabbin, then slide it through the trunk, thats if you want the most airspace possible but i know you could fit at least a 14 cube box in the back seat if you take the door off, mine was 8 cubes and with the door off it went in and out no problem, you might even be abloe to totally assemble it outside and slide it through.

and as for bigger than an 18" , i looked at running an Incriminator audio Death Penalty 21" but its too deep to fit through the hole to the trunk anyway you did it even if you removed the beuty panel and seats to squeeze it through.

gutting an alero is a half hour job if you know what your doing it's really simple. i've had mine appart so many times. it sooooo easy after you do it the first time. only thing i havent fully removed was the carpet, top of the dash and headliner.

oh and BTW i did not build that box it came with my second Pioneer SPL but its 2.65 cubes 10" long port and 14 sq inches its about recommended by most companies for subs of this size.

I've drove around for a week with only the drivers seat in while I glassed the rear deck.
