step 1: get a credit card
step 2: get another credit card
step 3: go to www.wot-tech.com
step 4: improve car
step 5: file bankruptcy, due to inability to pay bills from epic engine mods.

/\ You look at lots of cacks? Usually I avoid that part of the movie.

OK Take out the bottom half of the air box. It's not helping you at all. It's not hard to get out either. Might have to remove the battery to get it out, it's been a while and I forget.
Exhaust is a good 2nd step. Flowmaster, Magaflow, turbo muffler. You'll hear a lot of options. Go to YouTube and look up Alero Exhaust. I have a vid up there of mine going thru a few paces with Super 44's, there are others too.
P&P manis are also a good chioce, yes check out WOT tech.com and get some ideas.
What are your plans for the car anyway?

If you can find an SLP exhaust for a grand am, that works GREAT...I love mine, but you will need to shave the down pipe a little as apparently the grand am is a lil longer (i dont know how)
TPS-tec is a good easy (cheap) mod, not sure if its a great increase but i felt the difference in mine, though it did go up after 2 years.
if the site is still up PFYC.com (parts for your car) has some decent priced parts for beginning and i havent been on there in some time, but they had a supercharger too.
But like others are asking, your intentions (goal) would also drive you to look 1 way or another.

step 1: turbo charged for sure i have come to decide that i would get more of a benefit out of that rather than a super charger.
step 2: i want to paint the car black and i have a set of underglows for it i think the red glows should make it look mint. as for the body i may end up getting a kit later on but i cant seem to find one i really like so ill just toss some silver chicken wire in the new front bumber to replace the "CRACKED"one
step 3: i would like to get some new rims i found ones i liked on ebay a while back but im sure there gone now.
step 4: this step may become done wayyy sooner than the turbo so kinda a step one i have a friend with a clarion 7" fold up display touch screen for a stereo deck and then gonna put infinnity kappa's all round followed by a set of 2 ten inch subs and a twelve. all dpeakers will be amped i have a rockford coming from a friend that is broken. the rest i shall buy new but i dont know what kind to get.
Step 5: working on getting a magnaflow exhaust system so that would go great.
step 6: will be getting windows tinted black and change the interior from the beige ish one...... dont like it
by the way i was tired when i said the cracked bumber so alero red 04 seriously man sad face!!!!! lol jk

sounds like you have a good idea of what you want.
I have a full razzi kit if you are interested
for exhaust if its still around I would recommend the SLP cat-back made for the grand am (lil modification needed to bolt to ours) I love the tone not weed whacky nor weak, its nice.

To each their own, I have heard magnaflows on aleros and pardon the term made them sound like ricers. The SLP gives it a nice mean deep tone.
I have pics of the razzi on myspace when they were on my alero. they are sitting in my attic now and I cant get to them with all the stuff I have goin on right now.

no prob, my main pics on myspace may be set to friends only, but there should be a slide show of nothing but the alero pics. Yea shipping may be a pain...and may actually be able to get it cheaper on e-bay.
I had tried to find the SLP exhaust ( www.slponline.com) and it doesn't appear to be on their site anymore. I did see the Borla cat-back, but have no opinion on them. (about 10 years ago they were very reputable though)
