Getting a new muffler tomorrow
Well, tomorrow I'm finally getting another muffler on my car. I'm just not sure which one to get...
I want a Dynomax super turbo muffler, but nobody around here has one in stock, and I have to have it put on tomorrow. The brands that are available are the obvious: Magnaflow and Flowmaster.
Can anybody recommend which model I should get to get the sound that I want. I don't want annoyingly loud, or annoying ricey. Just a smooth rumble would be nice.
I'm running a turbocharged 2.4 with 2.5" piping all the way to the back.
Also, I don't know if I'm wanting to dump after the muffler, or make tips out the back. Would it make a difference?
Thanks

My friend has one of these on his 2.2 Ecotec in his sunfire and it sounds horrible, extremely ricey at anything above 3.5k RPMs.

Don't use a Magnaflow. I guess the Flowmaster.
Why so urgent?

What model of flowmaster do you recommend?
And it's urgent because this is my first and only off-day for a while lol.

Damn man I would put a cheap one on until you get a dynomax super turbo to swap it out for. I have a supercharged 2.4 with a magnaflow hi flow cat 2.5" piping all the way back to a dynomax super turbo with a single Y tip so its like if my car was sideways :
--[cat]-------[muffler]---<
It sounds great.

Funds won't allow right now lol. Maybe later one day I'll switch to the super turbo.

Because the Magnaflow is a straight through fart can... and he said:

You need baffles to minimize the sound. I have a Magnaflow straight through AND a Dynomax Super Turbo baffled (curved baffles) to maintain decent flow while muffling all aspects of rasp and drone.

^^ what he said. mine is straight through too and apparently the shop used SS pipes too so no worries for rust anymore . I bought the cat and muffler and went to midas they did this for 396$ taxes and all included. Was pretty good deal imo.

they don't sound that bad. look up ecotec with a megan drift spec. it's a lower bumblebee sound. not all civic ricey.
i just like that type of exhaust more IMO. especially for ecotec.

A Greddy DT would be great for that setup.
They sound stock still you hit higher RPM's than the bigger side opens open it sounds great!

I ended up getting 2.5" all the way back, a glasspack where the converter was, and a magnaflow muffler on the back. I love it. It is nice and quiet.
Thanks for everyone's feedback.
