Hey all has anyone attempted to rig up a trans radiator? and what would be a good mounting place if anyone has? Thanks as always.

I had one, and will have another one. It really isn't that necessary though unless you have a supercharger or something really pushed the motor/tranny. I had a small one about 12"x10" with 1/2" hose inlets and outelts. It was mounted behind where the foglight would be on the passenger side.

^ if your adding in a trans cooler you are going to need more fluid than stock

calculate how much fluid your cooling system will hold then add it to the stock amount which IIRC is 10.6 qts for the whole system...

I bought one from him, but I didn't put it on the ALero. Probably will end up on my 330 project car

Even with the racing, since I put the tranny gauge in the temp hasn't gone above 230 on the really hot and humid days

It would be cool to see. I've always wanted one being out here in the desert heat of El Paso. I would have to pay someone to put it on for me though.

It wasent hard at all iam sure you could do it. All I did was go to autozone and I bought one of those 12*6

coolers, then I mounted it in front of my stock radiator and re ran the hose into it. I have pics but iam posting from my phone so they will come later. Took about two hrs max.

Im going to have to do the same cause the stock cooler lines are leaking badly at the metal to rubber crimp part.

Rouseman, how did you connect the aftermarket cooler to the trans? Did you unbolt the stock lines and get a fitting?

Yes the kit came with about 3 feet of new hose and lots of adapters as well as 3 different kinds of mounting hardware. The send hose was long enough but i had to add a little to the receive hose. I used a double female end piece to join the two, as well as small turn clamps and it hasent leaked a drop.

Putting the cooler in front of the readiator didn't increase your engine temp at all?
