well a slight update, found out a few minutes ago that the timing has jumped about 3 teeth, and the tensioner is almost toasted fml, now i just have to make a decision when they call me back with a price as to whether or not this car is worth saving...
$681.46 was what i just got quoted on gettin my baby fixed...still unsure what im going to do though, i really cant afford that at all.

do the tensioner pulley yourself, its very easy. and have them do the timing chain. depending on the price.
also look around at other places and get quoted how much for the timing chain, and go with the cheapest one.

I wish that's all i had to do to get my baby running again, i have an 01 with the LD9 and it is sitting dead in the garage needs a engine i'd gladly love to just have to do a tensioner and timing chain that's not too hard to do yourself

it was better that i threw it in the shop, i thought i would be kicking myself in the butt, but it seems like i made a decent decision this time. A few years ago when i had the water pump redone, they never re-set the timing properly, they also broke/stripped quite a few bolts while they were down there, the car is at the shop just waiting on the bolts, i should have it back by tonite or tomorrow, i will find out about how she performs by then. Seems like when i had that work done years ago i had felt like the car never drove right since then, always seemed like it had no power left in it, so lets hope this helps, if not it needed to be done haha

well.. i got the car back a few days after my last post just have been busy, once i got it back, the car drives almost like its new, slight bit of vibration at idle.. but nowhere near what it was...on the plus side, i no longer have to throw it in neutral and rev past 1k rpms while braking to keep the engine going, nor do i have to rev it at stoplights to keep it running, so all i can say is im pretty happy with it.

Is this only on startup? I had a similar issue where there were no codes and it would start with a rough idle for a few moments then stall.
Turned out to be a poor fuel pump relay connection and eventually a new fuse box in the engine compartment. Find the relay and see if you can manipulate it to a better connection.
If it is something other than start up it probably is not something electrical as such.
EDIT: sorry I didn't read everything. Timing chain being jumped seems like a pretty good cause...Now that you know the problem compare prices at other shops and see who will cut you a deal.
