Quirk on an '03
On occasion when I hit a bump or pothole in my '03 V6 Alero, the following three warning lights will turn on on the dash:
SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
((ABS))
TRAC OFF
I've noticed it tends to do this more often when it's wet outside and it's more prone to do it when the left side is the one that hits the bump. When I shut the engine down and restart it, the lights do not come back on.
Any ideas what this could be/suggestions on how to resolve the issue?

Wheel bearing going bad. It's a common problem and an easy fix.

LOL....its NOT a wheel bearing its the speed sensor. When ABS, Trac and service vehicle come on its a speed sensor. Does your cruise control not work? Thats another symptom of a faulty speed sensor.

Which is attached to the wheel bearing and doesn't come off... Therefore you have to replace the whole hub.

try using the cruise control and then hit a bump or pot hole and see if it turns off.....OR after you hit a pot hole and the lights come on, try using the cruise......those lights do usually mean its the speed sensor though....

Since the issue is solved I'm thread jacking.
My car makes a rythmic click/scraping sound that sounds exactly like a bad bearing. Only problem is there's no light so I can't find it by scanner, and I haven't been able to find the problem by checking things over the old fashion way. I'm absolutely certain it's on the driver's side and almost totally sure it's the front wheel.

id pull the wheel off, look over your brakes make sure they are all good, not scraping... maybe take the caliper off and clean all the brake dust out and what not.. (thats what i do when my brakes squeek and it gets rid of it.)
if the brakes are ok then if you have 47$ (thats about how much it is where i am) for a new hub, i would just replace it.
also.. maybe jack up the wheel that does that sound and put the car in neutral with the wheel off and spin it and listen to where its coming from.

I did all that, pads are fine, rotors are fine, and I spun the hubs on all the wheels on their own and nothing. Is it possible that the sound could be coming from my CV shaft?

Hmmm IDK, but when my first hub went out, under warranty, it was teh front driver's side wheel and I caught it before the lights came on

Ok I'll take a closer look at that one then, maybe pull it off and give it a more thorough examination.

Solved! Really stupid too. Turns out the way I had my WAI set up the end of the filter (metal piece) was scraping against the inside of the fender, and that's what was making the noise. I know this only because I changed the setup so that it wouldn't scrape, and the noise went away.
