can u fit bigger speakers in doors?
i was wondering if anyone has put bigger speakers in their doors? i have 4x6's and i want to put in componants because they will sound better. i know i have to make a spacer but can anyone tell me what they have done?

Yes you can put larger speakers in the front doors. The place that I bought my speakers from were able to install 6" two way JL's where the 4x6's used to lay.

what size is that??? i'm thinking of possibly upgrading but when i do i will know what size of speaker i can put in.

those look like 6" speakers......I'll sell you 2 6x8's and 2 6" Alpine type S speakers for $40, your only 1 province away

I got some adapter plates off ebay that should work to put 6.5 in the door.

I honestly don't remember if they put 6" or 6" 1/2 speakers in my door, it was a almost 3 years ago this summer. I beleive they used some sort of adapter like Cliff8928 said.

LOL I had trouble fitting 4x6's in the door, I had to customize the bracket

i can make my own plate. Diablo thanks for the offer but in my car the fronts and backs are going to replaced with new Alpines when i can afford it.

does anyone know off hand how much space i will have between my door and the door planel at the speaker location. this is when there is no speaker. i do not have power windows if that pocket makes a difference.

I don't think the power window makes a difference. When I had my panel off, it didn't seems that the window bracket was that close to the speaker.
I could be wrong thought, It's been a while since I did that

I made a wood/fiberflass deal up and my fairly large 5.25" Rainbows fit in just fine...

there could be some custom work involved, you would probably have to cut some metal in the doors, fab your own plates, trim the door panels...
