Many people have put in double din radio...why would there be a fitment issue when the original is a double din?

no, the original is a 'din and a half' it has been done may times though, most people have to cut out a bit to accommodate the corners, or some, depending on the screen size fit in just fine.

Well don't I feel dumb now ...Why can't they just make stuff a standard size, it would be a lot easier for everyone including manufacturer you would think

This is why I asked.
Thanks for the answers guys. I don't think I want to dremel out my trim piece. I think i'll stick with single DIN.
THANK YOU!

I have a double din in mine, you don't have to do anything to the trim piece. I had to remove all of the dash plastic behind the radio though, to make room for a perfect fit with all the wires.

I'm pretty sure that there is a thread here where people posted pics of their head units and there were some double din unites pictured there.

I have a Pioneer AVH-3000BT and it fit just fine, even after the 1st was stolen all I had to do was get another mounting bracket for the replacement. If you don't want to trim anything make sure to check the depth of the head unit, mine ends up being recessed and I think that is the case with most of the AVH series units.
