i got 35W 8000k lows in mine, its nice, never use my highs so didnt care to buy hids for it. imo, i wouldnt worry about it, lows are good enough to where you really dont need the highs anymore lol

Thanks I apprecaite the post not bad for $39.95. Kit looks pretty straight forward. Now if someone wanted high and low for a 2001 alero gold package what would they need.

9006 and 9005 hid kits, but the problem with using hid on the high beam is that the flicker would render them useless for about 10 seconds and the fact that HID lights are not made to be turned on and off as constantly as high beams are.

You would be better off using HID lights for the low, and HIR bulbs for the high's.

Check this link. http://hirheadlights.com/

Basically, it's a brighter halogen that is designed to be just as bright as a 3500 - 4000k HID. That's the optical range where you actually have visibility, and the light won't fade when it rains.

I put HIDs in my first alero on the high beams. not worth it at all. Just wire up the low beams to stay on when you kick on the brights and put the HIDs in the low beams.

Daytime running lights, if they are active with HID's, it will make them flicker and destroy em.

There's a fuse under the hood (if you have 3400 motor) I'm not familiar with the 2.2 or 2.4, but you pull it and cut the fuse related to the drls and re install. Then your all good.

2.2 had the fuse in 2003-2005. The others had to be removed by wiring. This of course is assuming that the wiring harness for the Alero and Grand Am are the same.
