your right about the auto might be faster.Â;-) because the times i've raced i've won off the line and usually till about 3rd gear or sometimes untill i put it in drive, because i'm power shifting.Â;-) and at our 1/8 mile track i'll only hit 2nd gear tops at 70 mph.

The auto would be faster if it was programmed right, which out of GM it is not. If it shifter higher and faster, you would be faster, but a manual has more gears, shorter gears, can be driven into redline, and launched better (feather the clutch, etc).
There is also less HP loss from a manual tranny to the wheels then an automatic...I read the percentages somewhere once, but can't recall. It was like 17% vs 23% or something. [/b][/quote]
What do you mean if the shifts were programed better from GM. If you mat the throttle the trans upshifts right at the redline point that is set by the engine people. They are the ones that set up at what speed trans shifts when you are at wide open throttle.
As far as drag racing, just put it in D4 mat the brake then the throttle, wait for the green and pray you hook up. Otherwise practice how much throttle you need and go for it.
Oh yeah your percentages on loses are a bit high as well, they are as low as 10% and depending on operating conditions can be lower.
