Well, in my experience the gasoline versions hold about 8.5 quarts or so. The diesels may hold more, and they do last forever, but thats typical of most any diesel engine. Built to last.

...the 12 was just a rough over approximation, but i knew they held alot more then standard. it can't be just coincidence that even their gas engines run to like 300k....

Probably not the newer ones, but the M104 6-cylinder appears to be nearly indestructible. It also takes about 8 quarts too. The Cadillac Northstar (4.6 and 4.4SC) also takes 8 quarts. Not sure on the Aurora.

My Aurora w/4.0 calls for 8 quarts but takes 7.5 to be to fill on the dipstick.
