Probably doesnt even make a damn bit of difference and you lost a foglight doing it. Not worth it.

true that. but i was kinda thinking today. does a CAI make that much of a difference over a WAI. i mean, the EGR is pushing fresh exhuast gases into the UIM right next to the TB. so all the incoming air, is heated up no matter what. i mean if anything a CAI will inhale a few degree's colder i think. i dunno im just throwing thoughts out.

Well, the EGR only lets those exhaust gases into the intake during cruising situations, not at idle or at WOT.

my cai is always comming undone, i open my hood and see it disconnected, usually between the pipes by the battery, once it came off the TB. no matter how hard i crank those clamps, it comes undone

I modified my intake just like that just so it fit better. Kyle at Dr. Speed sent me extra piping and couplers for free, so thats what I did.

U should get one of those typhoon K+N filters, that are open on the sides like normal, but also on the top.......which is how it faces the fog light opening. Get more of the "Ram air effect", if u are concerned bout air flow.

This is only my "cap" filter. I use a clean, mesh top, filter for the track. It only has 200 miles or so on it

you have 3 choices....

go get smaller couplers that fit tighter....

or if they are the right size...

go to the store and buy some cheap hair spray and sand paper. go home, take out your CAI and remove the couplers and clean the pipe with soap and water and dry it off. scuff up the area where the couplers go and clamp on to and then clean up the pipes again.

when you go to install it again, spray a little bit of hair spray onto the pipe where the coupler will go and a tiny bit on the inside of the coupler. assemble while the hair spray is still wet and tighten the clamp.

let it set for 15 mins after your done to give the hair spray time to dry and become sticky.

i promise it works for most situations. it helps hold 12 psi of boost in my car.

or if you dont want to do either of those...

you can have a bead pressed or welded around the tip of the piping. when you clamp it down the ends are bigger than that clamp, so it cant come out. you can also achieve this effect with a small hammer and some blunt force trauma to the pipe. you basically just need to flare the ends

oh yea, and you should make sure that the CAI is supported and not hanging. when it "hangs" unsupported, the couplers are the items that fail first.

I'm going to a different track next week pending no rain for a T&T. I'll make a run with a regular CAI and one with my modded CAI

thanks for the ideas. the cai does just hang, i was kind of thinking that was the reason. the last time i put it back on i put the ultra dragon lock on it, the clamps are really really tight.

if not i think im going to support it somehow, i know the opening it goes through to the wheel well is pretty tight, i might put some silicone there, or expanding foam...somthing to put some pressure in there and hold it in

I'm a engine newb, how much more hp or how much faster does the car go with one of these new intakes vs the stock intake? Is it noticeable in everyday driving? or is it only noticeable when your trying to run the tracks?

So you mean to tell me that everytime you go to the track, you are going to put the ghetto intake in, and take out a fog light?

I think he already pulls out the foglight when he goes to the track, it's posted somewhere. I read it somewhere if my memory is right. Usaully it's not but I think so this time.
