how do you have them hooked up? that can make a big difference. It is a little more tricky with DVC.

It should have a model and serial tag on the sub. Normaly located below the terminals. They are stickers, but it is pretty difficult to remove them. My first question would be why they were removed. How were these purchased? All eclipse subs have the serials on file for warranty and theft protection. Stolen items and replicas will not have one available. This will obviously not affect clarity. Just a heads up on something to look out for when buying second hand.
It would help if you removed the sub and took a pic. I could identify it from the motor and basket design. Eclipse has had various forms of aluminum subs since 97. If it is last years model, it would have to be the SW7124DVC. The recomended wattage would be the first thing to address. Those subs are recomended to have 450 watts RMS appiece. Your amp will only be giving them half of that. If it is a older version (the 8800 series) then you would need in the vacinity of 700-800 watts RMS appiece.
By looking at your pic, the box may be a bit small for those subs as well. I believe they are recommeded to have 1.5 or 1.7 cubic feet per sub. Otherwise, sound is pretty subjective. Try not to so vague and give some descriptions on how the subs sound. Good luck and let us know, Mike Gettinger.

It is the SW7324. I don't know off hand what the volume recommended was, but the RMS is the same as the SW7124. 450 RMS per sub. Underpowering could easily be your issue. The quickest way to tell, is turn your volume down to a moderate level. The bass should sound cleaner. If you believe so, then download a sine from caraudio.com or elitecaraudio.com. It can be found in the subwoofer or amp tutorials. Look for a 60htz sine wave. Place the sine wave on a cd. Your going to try and find out where your amp is clipping at. Clipping can be hard to identify on your subs so be patient. Place the cd in your HU and unhook your front speakers if possible. The 60 htz sine wave can do some serious damage to your speakers and overheat your amp in less than a minute. So be very carefull. Play the wave in your HU with any bass options on and at your normal setting. If you use bass boost or keep the sub at full volume then place those settings there. Raise the volume till your hear the sine wave distort. I strongly suggest being as close to the sub as possible only run the wave at thirty second intervals to avoid overheating the amp. I am going to guess that you will hear the wave distort at one quarter volume. If you have the gains maxed already, then it may distort at 1/8 volume. If this occurs, then you have a choice. You can lower your gains so that the amp will not clip till you have the HU increased to a higher volume. We can get into that later. I would still like for you to describe the sound of the subs. Used, they could be blown or not sealed properly.

its really hard to describe,,,i know they arent blown,,im thinking it may be the box cuz it does seem kind of small, and the amp is bridged so i know it still isnt getting enough juice,,i should just sell that amp and get a bigger one

I would never suggest to just sell your amp. Sound is very subjective, so these subs may just wrong for you. I will state that those subs are more of a sound quality sub than a spl sub. If you mean tiny by lack of deep bass, that could be easily be the subs, volume of air, or amp. Or just all three. In my opinion, you are underpowering the subs and the enclosure could hindering your performance as well. If you have a audio shop around, maybe you could demo the subs on some more wattage. Otherwise, i suggest that you find the 60 htz test tone. It can be downloaded here. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127867

I may be wrong, but I believe your amp is a two channel. If so, you won't benefit at all from placing it on one sub. The sub would have to be wired with each coil going to one channel and split your power RMS in half. Your settings can be part of it as well. How do you have your crossovers set? It could even be the choice of music you are listening to. Rock or metal will need a very large gain in wattage to sound louder. The frequencies of this music are normaly limited to 150-200 htz. This is mid bass. Not bass. And is not handled very well by larger subwoofers. 7 and 8 inch woofers perform best in this are. Put in a rap cd and do a test.

First of all you need to figure out what size box you have them in. Next, make sure the size of the box meets the recommended volume for these specific subs. If the airspace is too much, or not enough, there will be an audible difference.

definately get a HU...that'll make a huge difference cuz you'll be able to play with some more settings...my clarion deck has the out for sub, so i can adjust from the deck what frequency i want sent to that output, so match it to the amp, and it sounds much better
