Woohoo!!! Better gas mileage, FINALLY!!!
I'm finally getting better gas mileage!!!!!
Just got my spark plugs and wires changed the other day... Although I think we didn't do one right cause one is misfireing... But I'm getting a heck of a lot better gas mileage now!!!! got 110 miles after one quarter of a tank used... so I'm figuring about 400 or so miles per tank... which is like what about 25 mpg??? before the tune up, I wasn't even getting 20 mpg..

I don't think the people who owned the car before me did anything... Those spark plugs were shot! I'm suprized I even got spark from them... Car runs a lot quieter now... that engine must have been working REALLY hard! I need to get that Misfireing one fixed... I think I know which one it is...

i wish i could say my car was running better =( he has been getting good gas mileage recently for some reason (not so damn cold anymore?) and today it all of a sudden lost oil pressure or something and started knocking really bad so i pulled over and had him towed in =((((
im not sure whats up with him but its probably major; my dad was in a shitty mood so i just handed over my keys and didnt ask him. =/
but uhm yeh.. im glad your car is going good..!

that's about what I was getting!!! Change those plugs and you'll be getting at least 200 per HALF a tank! I ended up having to change the wires too cause I kinda pulled the plug out of the rubber gromet... oops...

I asked my step dad if changing the plugs would help my gas, he said it probably wouldnt. He said hes getting bad gas mpg too, its probably the weather.
Anybody know when sparkplugs should be changed? like at what miles..... cause i have 53,000 miles and ive never changed the plugs.

I think you are suppose to do it every 30,000??? But trust me, it's not so much the weather.... It's really cold here too, and I'm getting much better gas mileage ever since I changed the spark plugs..

I guess I need to change mine as well I'm only getting about 20 MPG, and now that gas has decided to back up again ($2.69 today) it really is worth looking into.

Anybody run just the copper Champion plugs in their cars (4cyl or 6cyl) with any better MPG results?

As long as the platinum doesn't fall off (most likely Sound_Xtreme's case) the plugs should last 100k. I've taken some originals out at 81,000 on my dad's old car and they still looked fine and the gap was OK.

so you replaced your plugs....... but you didnt even bother to ask what brand or what is best suited for your car.
and people wonder why their cars run like shit most of the time

sensors..
start with the easy ones.. MAF and any o2 sensor you can find..
they are cheap.. and somewhat DIY..
Then regular oil changes of course..
Oh.. and if you havent already checked.. Air filter.. could be right effed up.. leaves.. clean it good under filter, and replace it..
