Question CV Half shaft ?

Ok my car has 113,xxx on it now and my CV started making noise couple months back. Recently is sounded like my drivers side was getting worse, so yest I replaced it along with the wheel bearing. The pass side CV & wheel bearing are still the stock units and the CV has a new boot on it since the stock one ripped apart a while back. My question is:

While making a right turn it still sounds like the driver side CV shaft is bad since I here it clacking. When I turn left there is no sound. Is it possible the sound from the pass side carrying over into the axle making it sound like its the driver side ?

It could easily "sound" that way but since you just replaced the boot and not the entire cv axle it may be that the components have lost too much grease from the previous tear or the previous tear was not tended to quickly enough and so the joints became flawed.

The driver side is brand new, the pass side had the new boot only put on. Noise sounds like its coming from the drivers side though, only on a right turn...

Yeah I got that part. What I am saying is it could "sound" that way but may actually be the pass side.

In a respects tho...Is the drivers side new or is it a new rebuilt assembly?

I ask because I did my cv axles before and I just bought rebuilts

Yeah I know, but didnt want to waste my time if its the pass side making me think its the driver... If that even makes sense ??

I think I will take my pass side in next month and tell them it went bad and its under warranty, especially since they fit either sides. And they didnt require a core, so I have it sitting in the box right now.

freakin Cheat !

any idea what a good amount of play in the CV joint is? I've been noticing this "clacking" for a few weeks...replaced the wheel bearing the other day b/c that was also bad, but noticed about 1/2 inch of so of play in my drivers side CV joint. It's on my list to fix...just wondering how much longer I should wait.

I replaced the other side and the noise went away. It was the CV that was giving me grief ....
