Covers
How do i remove the 2.4L cover and the intake cover on the engine to paint them? Also if you know how do i get that black part that surrounds the gauges off? This is for painting them so i figure it would go in appearance.

idi cover on engine:
1. unbolt fuel line line along the right side.
2. unbolt the four bolts on top of the cover.
3. push the fuel line out of the way.
4. lift up a little on the cover to separate from spark plugs.
5. unplug ignition harness.
6. give a good tug to lift up on it.
---------
reinstalling requires a pretty good push to seat the spark boots.
good luck, because the idi cover is powdercoated from the factory.

should just be 2 7mm or 1/4" bolts, undo those, kinda pull it out...it's tough but it'll go...then disconnect your trip reset button and you're good to go

ummm yeah..... you should check out my thread... it's titled, Woohoo!!! Restoring the interior... or something to that effect.... You'll see what happens when you paint your interior.... a friend of mine works at a dealership.... they wouldn't even take my car out to get it valued.. lol they said the interior is just gonna kill the value anyways... If I can get it fixed, then they are gonna take a look at it. lol

heres a pic of my engine bay, dirty but just to depict the ingition housing. I painted it ford blue using hi temp engine paint. Came out pretty good and was really easy. Just thought I give u a idea of the turnout, but soon i will remove it and replace it with the quad 4 highout put cover once i get my hands on one.
