Getting rid of the Alero
That's right.
I'm starting to be swayed in all these posts, and with my Alero needing an oil change, air in 1 tire, new brakes and a new center stop light blub (only 1) I decided to just trade it in and get a shiny 1999 Ford Contour.
Everybody says this car is a POS, but I'm not going to listen to anybody. Sure these cars die with about 75,000 miles on them and the one I'm going to buy from the homeless guy that lives in it under Interstate 95 has 73,500 miles on it, but I know everything and nothing bad will happen to me.
You should see it, no pics yet, but it's a blood red, well most of it is. The hood is teal green and doesn't shut all the way, giving me that "speed hole" effect (WHOO HOO 10 second in the 1/4 mile here I come) and the right fender is blue and the left fender is/was grey, but the paint is peeling off that one.
It has one 195 65 15 inch wheel tire combo on the left rear, 2 205 75 16 wheels in the front and I can't remember the other rear wheel, I think it's a 14 incher. The wheels are 4 lug, but there are only 8 lugs on the entire car. That's not why the wheels wobble though, I just need a balance
I have to push it to start since the flywheel only has 16 teeth on it, but that's a great way to lose weight on a hazy, hot and humid Philly day. Plus the car is pretty light, so I'm good there.
The one thing I don't like is that the one headlight has been replaced by a mag light, so I have to get out of the car to turn that headlight off and on, but I guess you can't have everything.
The winter time will be fun, with the hole in the floorboards and the dashboard fire every once in a while, it's the perfect climate control. Don't worry, I bought a new fire suit.
There is no windshield, but would needs that. Bugs in the teeth, not just for motorcylces anymore. Pfft, think of all the money I'll save on washer fluid
I won't need any child seats when I have kids. You gotta have a back seat first. HA HA HA cops, I'm exemept there The milk crate front seat is putting a pretty bad checkerboard pattern on my ass, however. I'll buy a lawn chair for that, no wait, if I get a lounge chair, I'll have reclining bucket seats. Wait, I'll just get a bucket to sit on. Damn only $5 at Acme this week. WHAT A BARGIN
Anyway, wish me luck with my new car!!

Good luck with your Ford dude. I am kinda tossing around the idea of trading mine in for an older Lada. I heard that they are pretty reliable and I don't think they cost that much witch is perfect since the alero isn't worth that much with all that has to be done to it (the oil and filter needs to be change kinda like yours, the tire psi I think is fine but it is kinda dirty). I know I've only had the Alero for a little over a month but I've already put at least sixy bucks into it (including oil change) so I'm gonna get rid of her before it costs me more money.

or he cut and pasted.
i believe i've seen this before (probably on this site a couple years ago)
no offense... but ken isn't that articulate of a writer... he'd go into more detail about the engine then caring to comment about the interior.
