DRL's standard?

in the states did the Alero, Grand Prixs, or Grand AMs, come with DRL's stock? or do they have to be put on when bringing the car over after buying it. and how hard is it to install them? is it just a relay that needs to be installed?

im wondering bc i found a few Alero's, and GP's just on the other side of the border.

My '99 has factory DRL's and they use the high beams. I'm pretty sure every Alero had DRL's from the factory, but at some point I think they switched to the low beams for whatever reason.
