dynamat ftl

okay...i just spent $120 on dynamat extreme to line my trunk with...i lined my lid behind that license plate piece(plus weather stripping) and on the inside...but it still rattles like CRAZY and i cant get it to stop

ive pretty much beat that search button to death but i still cant find any way to make it stop...it used to extend ~1/2" out...but now its probably down to ~1/3"

so if anybody has any way that will def work...it would be nice if you shared

I used a polyfoam adhered to the back of my license plate. In my old car I spray foamed the trunk.

One way I know that works - Turn down the radio. lol

I bend the corners of the liscense plate in - tends to make the rattle much quieter.

I meant the hook that is mounted to the body not the trunk.

Some car models have the ability to move them slightly . I dont have an Alero any longer so I am not sure.

i have this same problem. its that big plastic part of the trunk that the plate goes on. I thought mine was the whole piece but i figured out that its only the top piece of it where it touches the trunk. i just put a thin piece of rubber between that and the trunk to see if that would fix it and it did. now i just gotta figure out how to put something between there that you wont see.

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
You need to take that panel off. Where the screw parts are that go into the metal, cut little squares of dynamat for them. Tighten it up good also.

Ive had to do this on my Beretta's and even my Buick Century.

Got the same problem, I used silicon and silconed that piece, but I soon found out that my whole truck was making the noise not just that piece.

my solution for now:
deal with it, I cant hear it rattle on the inside, why the hell would i care what people hear on the out. I dont no about you but i drive inside my car not outside it

I used the "great stuff" expanding foam (prolly not the best idea) shot it in on either side of the light, then trimmed off the excess, not a rattle in almost 2 years.

Same here i also went through the bottom holes and it greatly reduced the rattle

thats really odd, cuz i have ~1400W and i've never heard mine rattle. I also great stuff'd the inside of my trunk (behind the license plate) and put a piece of insulating foam behind the plate itself.

I was thinking about using that great stuff but what if you ever need to take that piece off? does that great stuff come off easy?
