l7 or type x?
Which is a better sub? I'll be running 2 of either one
so
2 Kicker l7's (15")
or
2 Alpine type x's (12")

Neither- they both suck.
The L7's have many issues with the fundamental design. They dont like ANY kind of abuse whatsoever. Its an SPL oriented driver. Unless you got mucho space these aint for you. Note, set of 12's would be MAXIMUM in an Alero... You wont fit 15's in the Alero in a proper box no way no how!
The Type X isnt anything great at all. Its an extremely over priced not so great sub. Its not really that good at anything. A type R will be better than a Type X.
You want a kick ass sub? Look in my sig. This weeks special is one HELL of a deal!

i have a single 10" L7 in my alero, have had for about 2 yrs now. i like it a lot, never really had any problem with it i i beat the piss out of it, full volume most of its life. they hits damn good for their size, most people that ride with me figure i have a 12" and are surprised its not. at the last sound off i was at, i only lost by about 1 db to my friends 2 12" alpines, 2400w in a civic.

So these are suppose to be good? /\/\
my problem is then I need an amp (suggestions)
Where on craigslist there are (2)15" l7's with (2)1500 watt amps for 800
or (2) Type x's with amp for 650
Both with boxes

Well I dont think the OP will be going after the Massives...
The special sale is now over with and the price is probably to much.
I still think both of the subs listed suck.
1) Theres not enough room in the Alero for 15's ported in either case...
2) To power such subs is not cheap. This goes beyond amplifiers. Im talking ALternator, batteries (more than one) and wiring.

I can spend money. I understand the costs. And everything involved with power! Doing the big 3 and upgrades on batteries, etc. The reason I posted the op is because the listed subs are on my states craigslist for reasonably cheap. I'm no newb to audio. And btw If i was going BIG I would go Bravox.
But realistically I am looking at used subs with power due to the fact of my current builds. I got a block sitting in my garage waiting for it's big day.
But thanks for all the help

my recommendations...if you can still find them JL Audio 12 VERSION 1, DVC, I have 6 (3 in alero, 3 in lex) I have an alpine V12 expert for the alero maybe pushin 900 to all three, and a 1000/1 JL pushin the lex. I Love the older JLs and how they have withstood the test of time. May be able to (if at all) find them pretty cheap maybe 75 a piece. I have stock on mine, bought 9 of them since they are discontinued, but 3 of which i bought blew shortly thereafter (guy must have lied to me)

oh my bad, I forgot to mention W-6s not w3s they are nothing compared to the version 1 w-6s
now if you had the money, go W-7, but for the price the W-6 version 1, 12 inch was the best bang for the buck.
