sri to cai
I was running a short ram intake for a good 6 months and finally decided to put in the fender well. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference. It sounds deeper. When I had my shorty on I would have a hard time doing a burnout but now it does it easily. I don't know how much power it gained but I can feel it a bit. So to any one thinking about doing a cai. Just do it. Lol. I will post pix up soon as I paint it

I want to go to a cai, but since my friend sucked up water through his and effed his engine up, i'm kinda afraid to do so..
Would I have to worry about having a cai in the winter when there is a foot of snow on the ground? Or in heavy rain?

It has to be completely submerged to take in water

well I don't want to hijack the thread, but I have 2 quick questions. Would a cai made for a grand am 3400 fit on a alero 3400, or would I have to make modifications? And whats a better filter, Aem or K&N??

It should fit just fine; The filter one i've got on my Bu is the same for Alero and Grand Am aswell..
As for the filter...thats subjective..
I myself have a chrome intakes one but know I should have bought a K&N one

1 HP/1 ft-lb torque
Seriously, it's about that small of a difference. Definitely nothing you're going to feel on the butt dyno.

Anything mechanical is exchangeable between Aleros and Grand Ams, and anything mechanical is exchangeable between the Malibus as well, except the v6 Malibus are 3100, so some engine parts won't work.

If youre feeling that big of difference, i would guess the short ram had some problem that was blocking air flow. Maybe a collapsed filter? The gain you notice is probably getting back to stock (or a hair better) from the CAI, and the ram was suffocating the car. Just my 2 cents.

I had my CAI when I lived in the snow belt of Ohio. It got wet, it froze I am sure, but I have not had any issues through two Winters with tons of ice/snow and extremely wet Springs. The salt gets on it and crusts etc. etc. but you know what? Now I live in the desert-no rain, salt or snow to worry about. Just tons and tons and tons of effing sand that crusts and collects.
As long as you do not do anything crazy...like drive through a stream...it will be fine. Just remove and clean the filter on a regular basis and you should be just dandy.
