I said switch too, but mine seems to not work after using it for a long time. I drove to NC a couple weeks ago and somewhere in NC towards the end of the trip, it just didn't want to work for me...it worked the next day tho

I had a 2000 also with the 2.4 and the cruise control always seemed to work for me.

I have an 01 2.4, never had any problems with the cruise, it's probably the switch, try swapping it out.

i had this problem not too long after i got my car, but instead of spending money and buying a new switch, just take a coin, (penny or dimes even more thin) and hold the on/off button in, and wedge the coin in there, if you wedge it in there good enough, it should stay on and it'll never come out unless you pry it out yourself... hope this helps you guys!

Did you check the fuse? I'm pretty sure there is a fuse for the cruise control.

I just got this problem too. I have a '99 3.4L and i use the cruise control all the time since i got a speeding ticket this helps me stay at the right speed. It used to take a few clicks to get it to stay in place but now it wont stay at all and its getting annoying. Anyone know how to take the switch apart or at least a simple way to fix it?
