got into an accident. had a toyota t100 take out the front of the car. had it back together and plastidipped in 2days with going to work. new struts and 1.5" lowering springs are now in need to take a new picture. new adjustable lateral links. just gotta get the rest of the rear suspension. picked up an actual wai, front and rear strut bars, also a underdrive pulley kit some new rims and exhaust.... anyone have any recommendations for a good ign coil upgrade?

Looks like full stealth mode in the flat black. I had a 68 442 done like that once, most people thought it was pretty cool.
On the coils, unless you are doing it for looks, you don't need to upgrade, the stock coils are fine. Is that pipe on the muffler to tune out drone?

where did you get the adjustable lateral bar??

Is that pipe on the muffler to tune out drone?
My guess is it's a double-pass (or twin-loop) muffler.
i4g3t
04-29-2013, 08:38 PM
its a twin loop threw muffler. its a little quiter then the thrush turbo i had one there but it gives it a deeper tone and sounds a hell of a lot better. the lateral link is a factory one from a 09 impala. replaced both and not to sounds stupid but i cant remember the name of the other bar that runs parallel to the lateral link. it can be replaced with the same thing. rims a from a 04 acura rsx. i was thinking about plastidipping them but idk if i wanted to be a dick and do them white ahhasha.. if it looks horrid i can always peel it off..

Hey, can you tell if it raised up the engine any with the new one?

not too sure... I had the engine braced with a jack... I noticed it lifted a bit when I put in the motor mount a couple weeks ago... with this mount, it looked like there was a bit of play in the cross bolt holes which would more or less keep things at the same level but with the torque on the mount it holds it in place? hard to see down there, just going off what I could feel...
as for the time, I probably spent about an hour the last time I looked at it trying to figure out my plan of attack... tonight I had the time to play, so I went to town :)
braced the motor, took out the cross member, then the other 2 bolts, pried the old one out, stuffed the new one in... put the socket on the top bolt to hold it in line, started the threads, then tightened the bottom one... then the top, then the cross bolt... done :)

tw0123 where did you get the mounts? and last night i got bored and decided to do something about the tail lights.. i felt they were wayyy to big for the car so i tried to make them seem smaller. can still see all the lights with no problems and the reflector is still visible. this will do until i get ga bumpers then ill make a set. already have a couple ideas since i wont need the reverse light in the housing anymore!

i washed my car today and was looking in the hood and noticed these areas were a lil damp.. possible leakage.. can someone tell me what this can be and how much it would cost.. the 1st couple of pix are from the dried cracked hose on top that goes from engine to air intake.. the 3rd and 4th are from the power steering reservoir. wondering if i need to replace that? and the last 2 are from around the gasket right underneath where you put the oil in the engine..

The only ones I see being worried about are power steering hoses...the one between the motor and the intake is ventilation and I would probably put a breather filter on there before bothering to replace the hose (mine looks like that as well) and the gasket under where you put the oil in is a problem area for the ecotec...a new gasket was put on when they did my timing stuff less than 10k miles ago and it already seeps there again, as long as you aren't losing a lot of oil it should be fine...If you are losing a decent amount of oil then the first thing I would do is pull the black intake box off and look at your throttle body plate...if it is covered in oil then the vent in the oil cap is clogged up so too much pressure is building up and throwing oil through the intake.

sooo... i started feeling shaking in the front end.. i take it to the shop and find out that the front passenger side brake line to caliper was installed upside down. it caused rubbing and cracked the cv boot. ball joint and axle has to be replaced. front tires wore really bad so i have to buy new front tires. until then i have to rotate the tires. so everything without the new tires = $250+tax

Firing order 1-2-3-4-5-6, coil order is different though,. I believe he coils are 1-4. 6-3. 2-5
1-4 is the farthest coil on the drivers side

you know im not sure. when i bought and installed a new tensioner from autozone in jan, it came with a new bolt, i said screw there bolt i wanna keep my stock one. well just last night i went to start my car to hang out with fisdad and my batt light was on, and had no power steering, pop hood, my tensioner is off, and belt isnt on anything. so fisdad took me to get another tensioner at 1am and it was free (warranty) used the bolt it came with and all is ok.
its a tad stripped out for some reason so the stock bolt wouldnt bite, im just glad the new bolt works and i dont have to get it retapped or a new head because of it...

when I had this happen with mine, it was a bad alternator... could be a bad ground or a spliced wire causing the issues as well...

I would say clean your battery terminals, then check your wiring... lastly test your alternator and battery. The problem lies within.

I'll check my alternator but its probably wiring somewhere, because it was acting fine until it got rainy and humid..

Difflay posted that the circuit boards need to be swapped.
So, buy an Intrigue cluster (I bought a reman one off fleabay).
Take the black plastic cover off the back of the Intrigue cluster.
Carefully remove the printed circuit board - it's just a friction fit. Do NOT touch any of the circuits or solder points!
Disconnect your battery.
Remove the cluster from your Alero and remove the printed circuit board with the same procedure.
Install the circuit board from your Alero into the Intrigue gauges, being careful to line everything up before pressing together. Pay special attention to the PRND321 lights as they are on a separate daughter board.
Reassemble and install the new cluster into your Alero.
Reconnect your battery and test it out!

The new one still does. IDK where you got your kit from, but I got mine from DDM tuning. For the 9006, it tells me I have to cut the circled plugs as they are not needed, but it turns out that the circled stuff is simply a wiring extension if in case the ballast needs to be further in the car.

You know we still have that at the GAOC with Bryle. "Don't put HID lights in a halogen housing" "Don't put blue lights in your car" "Don't use anything higher than 4300K" "Don't use your fog lights as driving lights" "Don't use the TYC replacement stock lights" "Don't use the aftermarket projector headlights".
i hated that lol dont put hids in stock housings!!! no, its fine. i even had fisdad follow me after adjusting them and they were not blinding at all.
You're tinted though, remember that. Personally, I have HID's in my 9006 sealed beams and I just don't give a fk whether or not it's blinding someone. To this day no one has flashed me, and it's not like I have the annoying lights on. If anything, they look like LED lights in color. Sure it would be nice to have a good cut off line and focus the lights to be wider, but with my small ass headlight housing, I can't do that. It's not as bad as people make it out to be.

My guess is the build clearances will be a bit looser with the forged pistons. Also, extra protection for the cam lobes given the PAC 1518 valve springs (which are really stiff - closed seat pressure is 142.5#!).

Rewired my radio completely and installed an antenna adapter. Finally have a working AM/FM radio since my friend installed it back in 2006. And now that the wiring is done properly the audio quality/power is much better.
Replaced a silicone coupler that had been cut into many times by the A/C pulley. Now out of the way of it.
Removed my fender stripes. I much prefer the clean look.
Ordered a dash cap like Redog has to go over my wrinkled/destroyed dashboard vinyl wrap.
Ordered a new 2-way key fob since mine is beat to hell and 90% of its usefulness doesn't work. It's been broken for a long, long time. Years. I've been fixing all sorts of things that have been lingering for a while as you can see.

did a preliminary wash because it was nasty since it has been through some mud as of late, also repainted wipers so they are all one color, but I am not really satisfied with the finish so I might sand and redo them...then I took it on an 80-90 mile round trip because I figured it was sad I got rid of all it's bugs (really went to visit theirishpope because I hadn't seen him for a bit and to figure out a little more what was going on)

It was not the person I talked to 's fault. He put a new battery in it for me today and everything. When I got there and we went to go do paper work another employee had taken a deposit on it earlier that afternoon. I watched him chuck the keys at his sales manger, he was mad to. it was quite the situation but I couldnt be mad at him (he was cool, older guy, had been doing it for years) we both kept our cool though and left. I talked to him on the phone after, Im not sure if he'll even be going to back to work he was so mad.

Its not to hard. Pull off mirror from car then there is little clips (on GA mirror) you can reach behind the glass and pop with your finger. Then the glass/backing plate comes out of housing. Use heat gun on glass to remove it from the backing plate. Stick leds on backing plate with wires soldered to it. Put glass back on over the leds, run wires through mirror and down door into kick panel, wire up POS to signal wire, ground to a block by your seat hiddin by carpet, and done.

From a 2008 Grand Prix. These are NOT plug and play. You will have to modify them to make them work as well as figure out how to calibrate your gauges again.

I changed out the stock starter. It died on me a day before I left for a vacation to Hawaii. 13 years and 123k miles on it. At first Autozone gave me the wrong part. :( It seemed like the exact same but nope, even after shimming it still gave a grinding sound against the flywheel. Swapped it for the correct part and viola! Starts better than ever. I guess I could have done a how-to. Oops, next time.
