Technically the clear tails are illegal because there is no reflector on them... i plan to wire the outer peanut bulb to my drls then there will always be a light emmiting from them to attract attention... with the spider lights they provide a lot of light when braking... 81 leds per side flashing in your face!! If you can't see that you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car lmao
And Paul yes i have a manual... bought a silver sedan a year ago... your old wheels really set it off :)

Over the last couple of weeks I had a broken exterior mirror, so I replaced both of them with grand am mirrors. My b and c pillars' paint were peeling and got some black pillar covers. And just yesterday, I polished and waxed my car. Today however, it looks like it will rain. Ill post pics later.

Well, Its not what I did to my Alero today but it is what I did about a month ago. I drove it to Milzy Motorsports to get the 6-speed manual f40 transmission and a 3500 motor with about 23,000 installed.

took out all the plastic peices inside and the door panels ect and washed them with hot water and soap to get the dang smoke stains out of them :/ but they are cleaner got told today my body is far to gone with the rust on the quarter panel into the door jam and to many dings and dents to fix it so im done modding it or putting any money into it 4g alone for body work and thats not including paint... so looking for another alero 2 door with sunroof pref with 3400 blown or alive does not matter

Over the weekend I replaced my heater core. After a couple trips to the junkyard to get it for only $30, ended up breaking the heater core cover as I was trying to take out my old leaking one. I went to the Chevy dealer to price for a new one: $80! Nope. Back to the junkyard got one for $12 :awesome:

Spectre filters are half the cost and imo just as good as k&n

within a certain time span your blood chemistry starts to change from lack of sleep and it becomes hard on your body more than you know...Even being half an hour to an hour low from the recommended 8 hours of sleep cuts brain function noticeably, so try and find a way to sleep at some point dude especially if you are trying to get a job, being strung out from no sleep isn't a very good way to make a first impression

Installed new msd coils and msd wires. It's in the back, not much gets up in there. It sounds a lot better. I don't trust any of my filters' flow, I want maximum airflow.

We went with the front to cut and extend. It was the flattest of the rocker and would be easier
To shape. Also because the driver side end was not square at all. We had to cut and reposition and make it straight. The rear of that rocker is the same but not as bad. The glass quality is thick/thin all over. I still have to get metal so we can attach the bottom to the car and build a ledge for the door opening so it has something to sit on.
It appears they intended for the rockers to sit out at a angle rather than straight. This based on the ledge on the inside of the rocker that I had to cut off. Which this would look stupid coming down from wheelwell and then angling out rather than continuing the body lines.

Nitto NT450s, look real nice on the car (nice tread depth too, however they like to sling those rocks...), now I'm trying to figure out the warranty papers >.< 45,000 mile treadwear warranty is no good without the papers filled out -_-

Lets just say they didnt expect my car to be that fast haha. :) then some people joked to them saying "you got beat by an alero!"
I just like being unexpectedly fast to a good majority of cars out there because no one here sees aleros modded. Im the only one who has a nice modded alero at the "drive ins" others are just stock beaters basically. But usually im the only one of my kind. Which is nice. I like being different.

^Gotta agree with you as far as having a modded Alero. Well lately, I have not really done much with it. New fuel pump on Friday, and a quart of oil woo hoo. Also, when I was thinking of getting new subs, my alternator messed up, so I had it rebuilt. I also got a trunk mount bike rack for it to carry my wife's and my bike on it. Hopefully on Tuesday, I will wash the Alero, and on Wednesday, I'll take it to Falcon Lake.

Hell even a stock alero is honestly not that bad. It can keep up with most new modern ecobox's like focus's or cruze's which surprises a lot of people because they think if its not new its a slow piece of junk.

But anyway... I seafoamed my car today and then changed the oil because of the seafoam. Its been about 80k miles since the last cleaning.

Just replaced the battery. This time I got a Group 75DT battery, with the DT being "dual terminal". It fits perfectly fine as there is not a clearance problem with the top posts. I did this because at some point I might replace the battery cables with slightly longer top post versions.

On Friday I broke down. I thought the cat had finally clogged up (its been running low catalyst efficiency for a while). Get it towed to the shop, a foot of new pipe and a code eliminator for it later the car still didnt run and my fears came true. So a new fuel pump/filter later its back on the road running better than ever, and it wasnt running bad before. I have to do something about the exhaust though, it sounds terrible, the worst tin can rice rocket sounding thing iv'e ever heard.
2.2 people, factor exhaust minus the cat SOUNDS TERRIBLE.
I cant do my full build like I wanted right now due to the fuel pump issue. for now I'm thinking cut the resonator (its shot as well) and a proper muffler piped for quad tips. I've checked out countless videos of everything I can find with the 2.2 and magnaflow is at the top of the list. but due to the price and that its temporary I'm considering this http://www.ebay.com/itm/260941524042?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I know, I know. but its cheap, will make piping much easier off the factory exhaust due to its size, and is light weight. I dont know how legit the "aggressive race sound" is, im assuming not much but it would get the job done for now. Thoughts?
Also- I removed the heat shield because all its mounts were shot but one and it was rattling around sounding terrible. to me it looks like theres enough space there for airflow and no melting on the tank or anything that I can see thus far. has anyone else ran without it? do I need to fix and reinstall asap or am I ok?

The look varies a lot with the angle of the sun, the angle and distance viewed from the car, and the refraction of the glass. Those cars are out in the sun a lot, I needed to get some protection on them now, but there's still improvements that can be made. Every time I finish one I find things that could have been done better. Right now, I'm working with standard foamboard, researching more durable laminates. And now I think I have a way to eliminate the steps along the center. The foamboard tends to warp, so the cut and fit has to be perfect.

Well, my car has been at my TLM (trusted local mechanic) since Tuesday. .
I told him to replace the passenger-side axle (not the intermediate shaft) due to a torn CV boot, and adjust the parking brake actuators (my parking brake did not work too well - kinda important with a MT; I don't like leaving the car in gear when parked). Getting the parking brake sorted was no big deal. But....
Why replace the entire axle? The new axle comes with a warranty for $30 more, while a boot replacement would have no warranty.
Since my car's such a Frankenstein at this point, I told him the exact application that the axle is from (a 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP with a 6-speed manual). After trying 4 different axles, they couldn't find one that fit right (the length was either a smidge too short or to long, or the splines didn't fit into the hub nicey-nice), so he sent the original axle to a CV specialist to precisely measure it and find a compatible replacement, or rebuild it.
Not able to find a replacement, he went about rebuilding it. A good thing too, since the tripot was apparently full of little shards of bearing material, so the axle would have eventually failed anyway. I hope to get the car back today.
So I'm wondering now if I should pull both axles this winter, and send them to the Driveshaft Shop for replication as a stronger unit?
Which also begs the question, since my car's such a hodgepodge of parts now, how much longer until my TLM refuses to work on it - especially since it's been tying up one of his racks since Tuesday afternoon???

It's fairly well documented that the driver side axle needs to be modified.
I'm a bit perplexed as to why the passenger side was failing.

Got a dual sub off a friend for $15, barley used. Tossed it a box that was in my closet and wired to the unused 2 channels on my amp(eventually for the front speakers) and bam, cheap bit of bass! Still have a bit more tuning to do though. I would never usually put such a cheap speaker in my car but I couldnt pass that up, by far the best 15 bucks I have spent. We'll see how long it lasts.

Replaced ignition lock cylinder. Needed to wiggle the old key around to get it to start. Just for laughs, I called the dealer and asked for prices. Here's how that went:
Me: how much would it cost to have the ignition lock cylinder replaced?
Dealer: $550, including parts and labor.
Me: what if I had the part already?
Dealer: we could take off $225, to bring it down to $325.
Me: what if I had the part, put it in, and you guys just did the security relearn?
Dealer: if you did that and had it towed, we could do the relearn for $125.
Ok, so $125 for you to turn a key and sit in my car for 10 minutes? Nah, I'll do it.
