sounds like a slow leak, something thats just seeping out of the LIMG. when you got the car hot, it expanded an air bubble that was trapped and it displaced the coolant which is why it overflowed. I had a simialar problem with my grand am a few years back, I kept purging the system and it seemed like there was always air that came out, finally ripped into the top end and found my LIMG had melted and was dumpping coolant into the oil and cyclinders. given mine was much worst but same basic idea, theres a leak inside the motor or a slow leak on the outside.
