One other question for the thread:
has anyone ever done a transmission rebuild for their alero? If so what did it cost roughly? I've heard its cheaper to convert it to manual now instead of replacing it with an automatic tranny. Is this true?

never heard it done. i suppose it could be done, if you know what your doing... or its covered under warranty. but i'm almost positive that it would be cheaper/easier to just get another.

you'll prob be 2-4 grand easy if your doing the install yourself on the auto to manual swap

It doesn't hit every gear hard. It shifted alright once I was moving. Just the intial put it in "D" was when the clunck happened.

maybe a tranny mount,mine did it after it broke is it the driver side?
