well kinda new
been here for a few days never was real into my first 2.4 alero. then that one got sold and i bought my new 3400 alero. i love this thing who woulda thought 170 hp out of a grandma car i love it. my mods so far is 5 percent tint, painted stock wheels, 30000k hids, cold air intake, k and n filter, slotted and drilled rotors, hawk pads, pillar gauge pod, the grill mesh mod i found on here clever yet very inexpensive i must say! tinted tails, tinted headlight cover. ive got a few things done some future mods i want are a decent s/c kit, strut bars, sway bars, lowering kit, wot upper and lower ported intake mani, pacesetter header and cat back, magnaflow universal cat, corvette break swap, a bad a$$ sound system, some recoro seats, enkei 17 inch rims matte black with a red lip wrapped in the bridgestone runflats, light weight alt and crank pulleys, and a gates racing serp belt, i def wanna achieve 250 to 275 to the wheels hopefully one day and my wife is about to buy a teal 2 door 5 speed 2.2 liter alero exciting i hear theres alot more mods to be done on those but i love my 3400! i hope im on the right track when it comes to serious sleeper material. i hate ricer body kits and i dont like christmas list stickers on my car last thing i want is a break in i want a nice little car that looks small but has you dropping your jaw when u see my beautiful tinted tails. then when they wipe the drool from there mouth at the end i can say so u want rice with that.

glad that you like the 3400 engine. buy some 8000k hids they are plenty. i am glad that you want to make your car a sleeper. well what do you want to start with building the engine. do you want to build the topend or the whole engine.

A grandma car? The Alero was marketed for younger buyer's to draw them away from the import brands and back to domestic brands. Other than that welcome to the site, happy modding, and lets see some pics of your Alero.

Not a "grandma car"!!! I love my 2.4. Best running engine I've ever owned. And certainly not slow either.
Welcome and I'm very glad you didn't mention a "power chip"! lol

power chips never work that you find on ebay. if i was wanted a power chip it better be saudered (sorry cant spell well) in my computer (ecu pcm whichever one itis on here) the chips the sell are plug and play crap that never work. anyways lol sorry yea i wanna build my engine bottoms up with only the best if it cost 5000 dollars best believe my happy a$$ is ganna save untill i have enough money for it. but i really wanna go boost my ion redline(lsj) is boosted. i figure 240hp stock is outta my redline thats with s/c my 3400 is 170hp stock now if i put the s/c on it at 6psi ill make 250 correct me if im wrong. my redline runs 12psi and i make 240 outta that i believe this alero will dominate. with a good cam better valvetrain stronger rods and pistons and a great tune this car would make some good numbers never worked with an auto though. oh and i dont think these are gma cars what so ever thats what i heard them called. but i believe they are very under estimated cars. any one know what i would need to beef up the tranny now im not so good with trannys to start with so dumb it down for me and has anyone tried any rod or piston swaps mabey even a crank swap that would beef up the bottom end. i am thinking about getting the crank knifed has anyone done that yet? good or bad results? like i said i know some stuff but domestic is another world to me. and thanks for the welcome everyone if i learn more ill try to contribute. oh and ill have pics later on our weather has been crappy last few days

wait hold on has anyone tried a lsj swap in one of these i know it would be tricky with wiring and all considering the pcm is very picky i mean i added a cold air intake and i needed a tune. but has it been possiable cause i have a buddy selling his 2.2 alero great body engine blew and its a 5 speed so the pedal is there and i could try to replace the shifter cables with the lsj's (lsj=ss cobolt ion redline motor) i might have to check into that cause if i can get my hands on a wrecked 2007+ ss cobolt engine turbo would be alot easier to work with number wise and cheaper after all best economical boost is a turbo cause it uses wasted energy to create more power lol

Lets sum it up here. My head hurts. You need to lay off of the monster drinks when you type and use correct punctation and capitalization. Engine swaps are a waste for the most part. 250hp wheel or crank? There is a rather larger difference. Cobalts and Ions are overrated. I walked a stage two easily when I had my basic supercharger setup. Knife edging would be major overkill.
That is all I can handle of your question for now.
Cheerio!
